This was following being triggered by a FB group for victims of narcissistic abuse, the question had to do with flying monkeys and made me think about how my children are used as my ex’s flying monkeys and how it has tried to destroy my relationship with my ownkids ages 30 -12.

Usually when I see people I know who have been mean to me in the past I feel anxious but I feel as if I should always acknowledge them and be friendly towards them. Two days ago I saw a girl who really hurt me about 4 years ago. I ran away! Overwhelmed by emotion in a flightresponse.
I was able to sit and do this about an hour after. I discovered I had been unhappy with the resolution of the situation and at the time I should have used my anger as a signal that I needed to negotiate myself an equal position in the situation and I should have stood up for myself. I was unhappy I had let myself down, I felt embarased because she had embarased me, and because I had allowed her to do it. I discovered I wanted to move on and not speak to her in this case, but I felt it was mean to let people go, and that no matter what they do I should always be loyal to them. They get to decide what my punishments in life should be. This is reminiscent of what I learned from my mother and other family members growing up. Next time I will listen to my anger more, let go if I need to let go, or try to stand up for myself if I can. Hope this is useful info! I tend to interpret anger and frustration as anxiety, this is a running theme, showing me that there is something that needs to be done in the situation. Usually it is when somebody is being mean to me or has been. I should not crumble in future.Thanks.
