This is a follow-up to a symposium held on 6 February 2020 at the “Centre international de conférences” of Météo-France in Toulouse, in honour and memory of Jean-François Geleyn, who died on 8 January2015.
BOB RIDDAWAY : EUROPEAN METEOROLOGICAL SOCIETY Bob Riddaway was the President of the EMS from September 2017 to 10 September 2020. He has been a member of the Editorial Board (the predecessor of the Liaison Committee) since its establishment in 2008 and also chaired it until September 2017. JEAN JOUZEL : EUROPEAN METEOROLOGICAL SOCIETY Fundamental and pioneering scientific contributions to the understanding of paleo, present and future climate processes. INTRODUCTION
EMS IN SHORT
The EMS is the association of Meteorological Societies in Europe. The network consists of 38 Member Societies and 29 Associate Members. The EMS is a non-profit-making organisation. The EMS Annual Meetings attract some 600 people each year from all sectors of the field. With a number of Awards outstanding contributions to the science, its applications and communication are honoured; young scientists are supported through travel grants.

150 YEARS HUNGARIAN METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE The Hungarian Meteorological Service dedicates all year 2020 to the celebration of the 150th anniversary of its foundation.
