Then we sailed out to Faxaflói and had to search for quite a long time before we found a Minke Whale. But we saw more throughout the tour and some of the porpoises came very close only 5-10 meters so we could take

Tour at 13:00The weather stayed similar for the afternoon tour. We started the tour by stopping by Akurey, one of two Puffing colonies here close to Reykjavík. We then headed out. While we were searching we spotted a lot of birds again, we spotted the same birds plus a few Shearwaters, this time we also saw the Gannet dive to feed a few

times.

WEDNESDAY, 20 AUGUST 2014 Tour at 17:00Report from Hafsúlan: It was still quite windy this afternoon as we headed out. We had to sail for a while until we finally found some diving northern gannets. They were apparently feeding and seemed to be plummiting from the skies! Awesome! We did find some two or three minke whales there, but unfortunately, they were being shy and not coming up a lot. Tour at 13:00The weather was great this afternoon when we headed out from Reykjavík. Close to the area were we found the whales this morning we spotted our first minke whale. But there was not only one in the area, at least 4-5 minke whales and a small group of harbour porpoises showed up for a short while. The minke whales were very nice to us like in the morning, surfacing

Tour at 13:00It got quiet out there in Faxaflói bay. Suddenly there was not as much life as in the morning. The whales were taking a siesta :-) and we had to spend some time searching for them. At the end of the tour though we had spotted three minke whales and one dolphin. Tour at 9:00What a wonderful morning: perfect weather conditions and many different and really TUESDAY, 6 OCTOBER 2009 Tour at 13:00A very cold but beautiful afternoon out on the bay today. We headed back towards the area where we have been in the past few days and found one Minke whale in the same area as a small group of shy harbour porpoises. We stayed with the Minke whale for over 20 minutes and this whale was taking really long dives and just surfacing once or twice at a time.

Tour at 13:00The wind looked as though it picked up a little in this tour but some of the passengers seemed to be enjoying the swells and at the end of the tour became professionals at stabling themselves in rough sea and enjoying the ride. We headed out and first we headed towards the area where we had the Harbour Porpoises earlier this morning. We crossed the area without and spotted very briefly a pod of Harbour Porpoises but we didn't manage to stay with them for very long so we headed on. We were lucky with the whales today and we were able to see 3 species, about 5-8 scattered harbour porpoises, 2 minke whales SKRÚÐUR | ELDING ADVENTURE AT SEA Skrúður was originally built as an ambulance boat in Norway but was brought to Iceland in 1988 to serve as a ferry boat. It came into the hands of the Elding family in 2012 and will be used mainly for private tours and as a ferry boat to Viðey Island. “FIRST TIME NOTHING, SECOND TIME.... EVERYTHING!” On our day of arrival we booked the tour straight away with Elding. However we didn't spot any whales or dolphins during this trip. Because of that we got a free ticket to try again at the end of our trip... And I'm so happy we tried again! We saw more than 12 mink whales, 10 white beaked dolphins and a lot of Harbour porpoises which were playing with us. A unique experience told our very enthousiastic and friendly guide Elena. “ABOUT 10 MINKE WHALES OVER 30+ SIGHTINGS WITH ELDING WHALE

WATCHING”

Our first booking was postponed due to bad whether, but Elding were really helpful rescheduling for when the forecast improved. Result was a cold but beautifully calm sunny day where we saw our first whales. Amazing! All Minkes. Guide was very helpful and taught us about their behaviour and what to expect from the morning. “LET THERE BE LIGHTS!” It could not have been a more memorable evening....calm seas and active skies showed us that we have not seen all things that need to be seen just yet! Crew did a great job; very informative and captivated along with us all at the light show. Would suggest getting the northern lights photo taker for the iPhone prior to getting on the

“CAUGHT LOADS OF FISH” We did the fishing trip in August. First of all the boat and the crew were great (I've read some reviews of other companies where this wan't the case). I had never cuaght a fish in my life but within 10 mins all four of us had caught at least one fish and by the end of the 1h30 fishing we proably caught 30+ fish between us. We kept the bigger ones (Cod and mackerel) and threw loads back. The captain filleted some of the catch on the boat and cooked there in a BBQ on the way back and we took the rest of the catch home New Balance Running Shoes

“PUFFIN TOUR”

I had an hour before I had to go back for my flight, and did the puffin cruise. It was great. The naturalist was friendly and knowledgeable, and we got to spend most of the time watching the puffins, because their island was really close to the old wharf. I wish I'd had more time to do the full whale watch (which also includes sea birds), but this was a great last thing to do.

“BRILLIANT”

We booked a morning Whale watching tour with Elding and it turned out to be very rough seas and no whales or dolphins were spotted, obviously the tour is dependent on the animals themselves so this couldnt be blamed on the company. They were great though, we were offered complimentary tickets to go again and all along the way the staff were great and we were pre warned about the rough weather that caused a lot of people to be sick. We went back two days later for the afternoon trip and this was amazing as we saw many dolphins and also minke whales, was a very successful trip and well worth going again to see the animals in their natural habitat

“LUCKY NORTHERN LIGHTS NIGHT” We booked a Northern Lights tour with Elding and were really pleased with the experience. The boat was big and comfortably accommodated the group. They provide warm one piece coveralls that help keep you warm while you look for the lights. The guide was friendly and helpful, quickly pointing out where to look as the clouds rolled away and the lights began to play across the sky. She also took pictures that she later posted on Facebook so that those of us without proper cameras could have evidence of our experience...

“GREAT EXPERIENCE.” We were very lucky with the weather for whale watching and for searching for the Aurora Borealis. Saw the lights but were fairly static. You can't control nature. Still a good trip. A member of the crew recited some Icelandic poetry. Didn't understand a word but it was FABULOUS. Would love to know where to find poems. Whale watching, unfortunately no whales, but plenty of white beaked dolphins. Long tailed ducks, gannets. A great experience. Can't wait to go again. Would highly recommend both of these tours...

“FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.” We sailed with Elding on 12th December and followed two Orcas in the Bay, which was an amazing experience. The spotter was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the Skipper of the boat respectful of the whales. Although we got fairly close to them, he ensured we gave the Orcas plenty of space and turned off the throttle to reduce the noise level. The company also requested that visitors did not buy whale meat in the City in order to reduce the level of whaling in the area. The flotation suits, which fitted over our coats, are an absolute must as it was naturally very cold. All in all this was an incredible experience with an experienced environmentally friendly

company.

“GREAT EXPERIENCE” We had a great time on this Northern Lights night cruise. We were lucky enough to see some good displays in the sky almost as soon as we set sail. Megan, our guide, was very well informed and great at spotting the signs of emerging displays. The boat did pitch a little even though the sea was calm so we were glad we had accepted the free sea-sickness tablet offered at the start of the trip so that we could enjoy the journey without feeling

off-colour.

“ WHALE WATCHING WITH ENVIRO FRIENDLY COMPANY” I had a great time with Elding early May on a whale watching tour. The guide was fantastic - she was very engaging, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
