__1302__4May-27-2020 Celebrating the beauty & re-invigorating energy of spring🌸 the Woodlands Floral throw blanket by Ojibwe artist Sarah Agaton Howes pays homage to the Ojibwe floral tradition, which is often seen in and on Ojibwe bead work, basketry, regalia and more! Traditionally Native people and artists viewed their cultural art as being an intrinsic part of their everyday objects, and would try to make the objects as beautiful as possible. At Eighth Generation, we are proud to continue that tradition to bring authentic artwork into our everyday, contemporary lives and homes, while creating opportunities for Inspired Native artists along the way! Thank you for supporting our small business. Blanket design collaboration with @heart_berry_by_sarah_howes . A reminder that water is life 💧 The "Reflection" towel by Michelle Lowden (Acoma Pueblo) represents a prayer for rain. 🌧️ During monsoon season, the cisterns at Acoma become full again. It is then the people visit the cisterns to gather water for drinking. The design features Acoma Pueblo abstract symbols representing mountains, clouds, and rain. __673__24May-21-2020 🌟 NEW OREGON POTLATCH Blanket 🌟 Our newest wool blanket features nine different basketry designs representing each of the federally recognized tribes of Oregon. A 10th design – a human figure – was added to represent all other tribes (past & present), the indigenous people who were relocated to Oregon as well as people who are not affiliated with any tribe. Together, the designs represent all people who live in the land that is now called "Oregon." 💫 Originally scheduled to release in tandem with our new Portland retail store, CEO Louie Gong (Nooksack) states: "the Artists choice to interweave designs representing many different people in one blanket created a message that was meant for this exact moment: there is comfort and protection in unity. So we decided to launch it now.” Designed in collaboration with Portland-area artist Shirod Younker (Coquille/Miluk Coos/Umpqua) & Tony A. Johnson (Clatsop/Wahkikum/Lower Chinook), current tribal Chairman of the Chinook Tribe 👊🏼 Link in Bio #SupportArtists #Wool #Blanket #Gifts #Oregon #InspiredNatives#EighthGeneration
