BLOG – EDIT FLOW
Hello! A new release of Edit Flow is now available. Previewing posts by another author is working again, thanks to a great contribution from @mallorydxw (a first time contributor)!. A number of problems with slugs should now be ironed out, and a number of tests have been introduced to catch any future issues.. Stay tuned as we continue to work through our backlog and improve Edit Flow. HOW CAN I CUSTOMIZE EDIT FLOW? Change sort order of posts on the calendar. Disable auto-subscribing users for notifications. Hide empty boxes on the Story Budget. Hide the “Publish” button for certain custom statuses. Limit custom statuses based on user role. Modify CSS classes applied to posts on the calendar. Only allow specific users to drag and drop posts on theNOTIFICATIONS
Receive timely updates on the content you’re following. Notifications keep you and your team up to date on changes to important content. Users can be subscribed to notifications for any post, either individually or by selecting user groups. You can quickly search through all your users to find the desired name or email address, or display just those users already subscribed to a post. CALENDAR – EDIT FLOW By default, administrators, editors, authors and contributors can view the calendar. On install, Edit Flow adds a capability of ‘ef_view_calendar’ to these roles. ef_calendar_allow_ajax_to_set_timestamp (filter) – Whether or not dragging an unpublished post to a new date changes the publication timestamp for the post. This is off by default.CODE SAMPLE
We received a question from Quint Randle about how to customize the number of posts displayed in the Story Budget view of Edit Flow (which is 10 by default), so I thought I’d write up a quick tutorial here. It’s simple, and enabled in Edit Flow by this bit of code.. To increase (or decrease) the number of posts from the default of 10, just add a small code snippet to the functions.php fileUSER GROUPS
You can keep, change, or delete the default user groups that come with Edit Flow, or create your own set of groups to suit your organization. Edit a group to select those users who should belong to it. Then, select a user group in the Notifications section of a post, and all of the group’s members will be emailed whenever that post is updatedCUSTOM STATUSES
Edit Flow’s custom statuses allow you to define the stages of your editorial workflow. Out of the box, WordPress offers only “Draft” and “Pending Review” as post statuses. Edit Flow adds more statuses – like “In Progress”, “Pitch”, or “Waiting for Edit” – which you can keep, change, or EDIT FLOWFEATURESUPDATESEXTENDCONTRIBUTEINSTALLCALENDAR Edit Flow gives you custom statuses, a calendar, editorial comments, and more, all to make it much easier for your team to collaborate within WordPress. V0.9.6: WAYSIDE/BACK IN TIME v0.9.6: Wayside/Back in Time. Hello! A new release of Edit Flow is now available. We’re giving the block editor first class support in Edit Flow and to start we’ve re-implemented the Calendar filters to use block editor components. Let us know what you think! HIDE EMPTY BOXES ON THE STORY BUDGET Hide empty boxes on the Story Budget. By default, the Story Budget will display boxes for each category even when there aren’t any posts. With a little CSS thoug, it’s possible to hide a category box if there aren’t any posts. First, read the introduction to extending Edit Flow. Once you’ve done so, you can modify the code snippetbelow
AUTO-SUBSCRIBE USER GROUPS FOR NOTIFICATIONS Auto-subscribe user groups for notifications. A common request for Edit Flow is to auto-subscribe users and/or user groups for notifications. EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS
We released Edit Flow v0.6.3 on Monday to fix/add a few things. First, we restored email notifications to old delivery method instead of queueing with WP cron because of reliability issues. This should fix any and all notification delivery problems. HIDE THE “PUBLISH” BUTTON FOR CERTAIN CUSTOM STATUSES We’ve all done it before — accidentally published a post before it was ready to go.
