Susan Barton is recognized internationally as an expert in dyslexia. She is in the Hall of Honor at the headquarters of the International Dyslexia Association. Her goal is to help parents, teachers, and others understand dyslexia—so they can provide the right type ofhelp.

Historical Perspective. Before the National Institutes of Health began their research in the 1980's, the only definition of dyslexia was an exclusionary one. If a child's difficulty with reading could not be explained by low intelligence, poor eyesight, poor hearing, inadequate educational opportunities, or any other problem, then the child mustbe dyslexic.
BRIGHT SOLUTIONS
Susan Barton, the founder of Bright Solutions for Dyslexia, gives presentations on dyslexia all across the country. But she cannot keep up with the demand. So she contacted all of the graduates of her summer seminars. Many, who were already giving presentations at a local or state level, agreed to become part of a Speakers Bureau ondyslexia.
