The COVID-19 vaccine will protect you and others from the virus and help us end this pandemic. While people with medical conditions may be concerned about the vaccine, Duke Health experts said that having a medical condition can increase your risk of getting very sick if youare infected.
WALK-IN COVID-19 VACCINE CLINICS Duke Health is providing COVID-19 vaccines without an appointment. We accept walk-ins for people age 12 and older who want the COVID vaccine. If you are between the ages of 12 and 17, you must go to a clinic that is offering Pfizer. This is the only COVID-19 vaccine approved for this age group. The COVID-19 vaccine is available at nocost.
COVID-19 VACCINE SCHEDULING -- FIRST DOSE Adolescents ages 12 and older are eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Parents are encouraged to attend these appointments with their adolescent. Insurance is not required to be vaccinated. If you don't have insurance, please do not use this form. Call 919-385-0429 to schedule your vaccine appointment. COVID-19 TESTING AND CARE COVID testing is only available at Duke Health locations by appointment. To get tested: Call the Duke Health COVID-19 Hotline: 919-385-0429, available Monday - Saturday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, to schedule a test. Find a North Carolina testing site. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOHNSON The J&J vaccine (also called the Johnson & Johnson's Janssen COVID-19 vaccine) uses an inactivated cold virus to carry genetic material, which prompts your cells to create a harmless piece of the “spike protein” found on the surface of COVID-19. This helps the body build an immune response against the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
