This report provides arguments for urgent decisions and activities to ensure adequate data steward capacity in the Netherlands, in order to realise the ambitions for Open Science. This report provides arguments for urgent decisions and activities to ensure adequate data steward capacity in the Netherlands, in order to realise the ambitions for Open Science. PERSONAL HEALTH TRAIN The Personal Health Train (PHT) aims to connect distributed health data and create value by increasing the use of existing health data for citizens, healthcare, and scientific research. ELIXIR-NL - DUTCH TECHCENTRE FOR LIFE SCIENCES DTL acts as the Dutch node of ELIXIR, the European data infrastructure for the life sciences. ELIXIR unites Europe’s leading life science organisations in managing and safeguarding the increasing volume of data generated by publicly funded research. ELIXIR is organised in TRAINING - DUTCH TECHCENTRE FOR LIFE SCIENCES ELIXIR-NL is active in three ELIXIR platforms: Compute, Interoperability, and Training. The Training platform helps scientists and developers find the training they need, and also provides that training. The Dutch Training activities are incorporated in the DTL Learning programme. Personalized medicine is a prominent example where data from different disciplines need to be combined to determine the best treatment for an individual. COVID-19 UPDATES & INITIATIVES During the COVID-19 pandemic researchers are working around the clock to make vaccines, advance medical treatment and protocols for thesick.
We are in an unprecedented situation where the whole world has to deal with this pandemic. In previous weeks we have seen the real strengthof data sharing.
However, there are still lots of hurdles when it comes to successful sharing and understanding of the data which is continuously beinggenerated.
