Among the most precious of these are rare typesets such as Hieroglyphics, Chinese, Cuneiform, Runes and other non-latin and ancient alphabets. Among the oldest is a font of matrices by the famous punch cutter Jakob Sabon of 1572, as well as an original cutting of an Old Schwabacher from the well-known type foundry of Johann Christoph Zanker in TYPEFACES - DRUCKKUNST-MUSEUM LEIPZIG It consists of lead and woodblock type, matrices, steel punches, and about forty tonnes of metal from the stocks of famous former type foundries or printing firms. Among the collection are hieroglyphs, cuneiform and Sanskrit types from the Reichsdruckerei (the Imperial Printing Works in Berlin) and a set of matrices of a gothic script byJakob

Bookbindery. Our collection also encompasses the craft of bookbindery. Originally all of the machines and devices belonged to the bookbindery Holm, based in Munich. Edith Holm and her partner Irmgard Meyenberg founded the bookbindery in 1936 and closed down in 1997. Previous. In 2000 the Museum of the Printing Arts Leipzig was formally restructured as a private foundation. The foundation is sponsored by the Giesecke+Devrient Foundation, the city of Leipzig as well as by the graphic industry in Germany. The Foundation's executive committee: Museum Director Mrs. Susanne Richter, Ph.D.; Financial Director Mr.Steffen Wölling.
