I am a licensed clinical psychologist and I operate my own private practice in Concord, Northern California. I turned my lifelong joy of helping others into my profession, and I have worked in the mental health field for more than three decades now. There is a saying that if you find joy in your work you will never work a day in your life, and I have found that to be true.

At that time I also taught General Psychology to Masters and Bachelors level nursing students at the PGIMER College of Nursing in Chandigarh, India. In addition, I was the Assistant Editor of the Indian Journal of Clinical Psychology, the official publication of Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists, from 1984 to 1986. I immigrated to the United States in 1990, teaching courses to graduate students at the Rosebridge School of Integrative Psychology. I have always been devoted to research in the neurobehavioral and neuropsychological fields. It was a few years later in 1993 that I co-founded The Hume Center, one of the largest mental health training centers in the Bay Area. I presided over it until 2004. ABOUT DR. SIMRET NANDA I provide psychiatric evaluation/management and therapy for children, teens, and adults. I have experience in treating eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, and binge-eating disorder and can also provide additional behavioral therapy. I am committed to developing deep relationships with each patient which allows me to address the issues at hand and better address the root causes of each disorder. I provide psychiatric evaluation and treatment for a variety of different illness including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, behavioral disorders and sexual disorders. I also work closely with therapists and primary care doctors in the bay area. I am a young adult female that really enjoys working with children, teens and young adults. I feel like I am able to connect with my patients and build a good rapport with them. WHY USE PSYCHOTHERAPY? Medical treatment is available for positive symptoms of schizophrenia such as poor or nonexistent social functioning, delusions. Negative symptoms such as problems with sleep, anger, hygiene are manageable only with Psychotherapy – not medicines. We have expertise with

WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME * Violence in our state always has a root cause, and the solution is more complicated than simply putting more police officers on our streets. As a mental health professional, I can see that crime and violence is an outlet for those who see no hope in education or employment. Therefore our most effective crime deterent is to provide ALL neighborhoods within Concord quality schools and sustaining jobs. * We must ensure that ALL Concord residents have access to affordable health care through programs like Medi-Cal and Covered California. We must also provide resources to ensure outreach efforts inform everyone about program eligibility, despite language barriers. * In a demanding job market like the Bay Area, a college degree is an absolute essential. We need start working on a way to make our community colleges fee free and bring down CSU/UC costs to ensure that ALL young Californians have access to quality higher education.
