Our Programs. DOROT works with older adults who range in age from 60 to over 100 – a majority in their 80s. They vary in physical mobility, economic status and backgrounds. Our in-home and community programs bring vital services and companionship to those who have difficulty leaving home without support. Seniors able to travel to ourUpper

Created by DOROT program experts, the new Tech Guides are now available for public use. They contain step-by-step instructions on how to teach seniors, who are often late-tech adopters, to use their smartphone to check email, FaceTime, text and more. Guides for Zoom videoconferencing are also available for phones, iPads and Windowscomputers.

Our Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP) is a transitional housing residence that provides short-term housing, meals and social services, along with relocation assistance. A uniqueIN WESTCHESTER

In the comfort and security of their own homes, seniors who are unable to regularly leave home without support or those staying home to stay safe during COVID-19 can remain engaged and socially connected through DOROT programs. While some activities and services are designed for older adults living in Manhattan from 59th to 125th KOSHER MEALS AT HOME Kosher Meals at Home. DOROT continues to offer our Kosher Meals at Home program without interruption during COVID-19. In response to increased demand, DOROT has significantly expanded the reach of the program, providing emergency food assistance to more seniors than ever before. The older adults DOROT serves have incredible stories to share and wisdom to impart. Whether talking by phone, running errands in the community, making a friendly visit, helping with a legacy project or technology, we offer opportunities to fit volunteers’ busyschedules.

Volunteer Create Meaningful Intergenerational Connections. Volunteers are at the heart of DOROT’s programs. Connect with older adults to form friendships, create intergenerational bonds andFRIENDLY VISITING
Friendly Visiting. Here is your opportunity to form a special bond with an older adult. For more than 40 years, DOROT’s Friendly Visiting program has created thousands of meaningful and mutually beneficial friendships between volunteers and DOROT elders. Volunteers elect to make weekly home visits or monthly home visits with a monthlycall.
TECHNOLOGY HELP
Older adults who are already tech users can request help on specific tech questions, for example, organizing files and emails, or starting a social media account. You and your match can meet for a one-time session, or multiple visits depending on learning needs and schedules. DOROT's Technology guides are available for selected topics. Ages:18+.
