ABOUT THE DEVICEGURU BLOG NETWORK _(updated as of May 20, 2020 -- 22:16 UTC)_ The DeviceGuru Blog Network is the birthplace of LinuxGizmos.com , a free-to-use website that publishes daily news and analysis on the hardware, software, protocols, and standards used in new and innovative embedded, mobile, and Internet of Things(IoT) devices.
In March 2018 LinuxGizmos formed a strategic partnership with KCK Media, publisher of the popular Circuit Cellar magazine , which was originated by Steve Ciarcia of Byte magazine fame. The KCK/LinuxGizmos partnership aims to expand the group’s coverage of the rapidly evolving hardware and software technologies, components, and subsystems used in embedded and IoT applications and devices, while continuing LinuxGizmos.com’s unique focus on the benefits of open source software, plus open spec hardware and standards. In November, 2018 the DeviceGuru Blog Network became the new home of the Single Board Computer Database(aka
“Board-DB”), and began hosting it at HackerBoards.com . The Board-DB database at HackerBoards.com currently includes more than 300 SBCs and COMs. Additional board submissions (at no charge) are welcome from SBC enthusiasts of all stripes, including students, hackers, and professional developers, as well as board manufacturer reps. The database can be searched and sorted by many keys, and also provides a convenient board comparisonfunction.
Additionally, the DeviceGuru Blog Network is proud to host the LinuxDevices.com Archive , with nearly 15,000 news items and articles, spanning a dozen years of early embedded Linux history. This precious asset became available in December 2013by virtue
of a generous donation to the Linux community from Quinstreet Inc., after its publication of LinuxDevices.com was discontinued. ABOUT THE DEVICEGURU The DeviceGuru Blog Network was founded in 2007 by Rick Lehrbaum (aka “DeviceGuru”), an entrepreneur, innovator, and well-known blogger in the embedded devices space. He co-founded Ampro Computers in 1983, authored the PC/104 standard and founded the PC/104 Consortium in 1991, launched LinuxDevices.com in 1999, and guided the formation of the Embedded Linux Consortiumin 2000.
Rick’s first single-board computer (SBC) design was “8080 Abie,” a 1977
wire-wrapped 8080 affair that was programmed with an on-board hex keypad, and was selected for inclusion in a never-published Byte Magazine book named “The Art of Computer Hacking.” His second SBC creation was the original Z80-based Ampro Little Board , in 1983. These days, he enjoys tinkering with Linux- and Android-based boards, systems, and Internet of Things gadgets and gizmos. _To contact the DeviceGuru Blog Network, please send an email to: deviceguru (at) deviceguru (dot) com.
