Our annual Summer with the Library program kicks off on June 1, 2021 with a prize just for signing up (while supplies last). DOWNTOWN BEND LIBRARY The Downtown Bend Library was designed by Thomas Hacker and Associates of Portland, Oregon. The two-story, 38,855-square-foot library opened in 1998 and features exposed beams and high ceilings, complemented with eastward-facing windows, looking over Bend’s civic square.MEET THE BOARD
Ann Malkin. Ann has lived in Central Oregon for 30 years and has been an active supporter of libraries since the mid-1990s when she worked on the campaigns to establish the Deschutes Public Library District and pass the bond issue to build the Bend Public Library. She was a founding board member of the Nancy R. Chandler Visiting Scholarprogram.
BOOK CLUBS - DESCHUTES PUBLIC LIBRARY Second Wednesday of the month, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. The library has over 200 kits of popular books for adult, teen, and children’s book clubs to checkout. Each kit is in a tote bag for easy carrying. Most kits contain 10-12 copies of the book with the adult kits including large print copies. Self Check-out. Each library is equipped with self checkout machines. To use the machines, scan your library card and then follow the instructions.
