ABOUT DEFPROC
Our Origin Story. How we started and the journey to where we are today. Since 2010 we’ve been creating, solving problems, tackling big issues and generally having fun out of our laboratory in Liverpool. Our dedicated team of thinkers and designers have had the joy of working on a huge variety of projects, during every stage ofdevelopment.
HOW WE WORK
We provide a range of services that ensures coverage from idea to prototype. This ensures that you can get the whole package from start to finish with peace of mind that you’re in good hands. Some of servives include; Hardware services including bespoke PCBs, 3D printing and laser cutting. HELP US TACKLE LONELINESS DURING THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK We’ve got a solution to loneliness during COVID-19, but we need your help. Our team is seeking key delivery partners to help scale up our service Push to Talk to help tackle loneliness, social isolation and poor mental health during the Coronavirus outbreak. Push to Talk was originally designed to connect people in communities who might find SPARKFUN PRO MICRO ‘SERIAL DEVICE BUSY’ So although ModemManger was unable to understand the device, it was still happy to hold on to it, an keep the serial port busy.. Fortunately, the syslog nicely contains the idVendor required to tell ModemManger to ignore it, so adding the line: ATTRS{idVendor}=="1b4f", ENV{ID_MM_DEVICE_IGNORE}="1" in the correct position in the udev ruleswill do that.
CATEGORY: PROJECT HIGHLIGHT On the contrary to what little has been said already about this particular endeavour, the egg in question is actually on the ratherlarge side.
MADE INVADERS
The Challenge. We wanted to build Made Invaders as a physical, classic arcade shooter. We decided that the most fun and engaging way to do this was to have players fire at unique targets that were designed and built by us, competing to get the highest score they can. LATTICE HINGE DESIGN The first set of lattice hinge tests I generated were a little fragile, with the maximum stress in the torsional links set to be 60MPa (the yield stress of the acrylic) it’s not very surprising that, with acrylic being a very brittle material (where the ultimate/breaking stress is very close to the yield stress) that the samples were very easy to break. LASER-CUT ELASTIC-CLIPPED COMB-JOINTS A comb joint (also called a finger joint) is a carpentry joint that has come to the attention of makers with the increasing accessibility of laser cutting. The finger joint can be used to make boxes from laser cut sheet materials (there are a couple of automated tools available including BoxMaker and Box-o-Tron ). WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE PROCESS? From the first phone call or meeting, we will explore your idea and requirements to be able to provide you with the best route to realise your project as a whole. From there, we'll agree the best next step with you, and work to complete the tangible deliverables that you need to progress. You will be involved at each and every step of the process so you can be sure that you will get the results that will continue to move your project forward. WHAT END PRODUCT WILL I GET? Every phase of a project has a set of tangible outcomes that we will have agreed with you — before we start — as the key requirements for the work we will provide. Whether that is creating software, building proof-of-concept devices or creating prototypes; what we hand over to you will meet those deliverables. The requirements will be unique to you, depending on the need, scale or progress of your project, but in all cases it will give you a clear and identifiable list of everything that we will perform for you, so you will be secure in the knowledge of exactly what to expect. WHAT ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY? We completely understand the need for secrecy during technical exploration and development of new products and services and we are normally able to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) if you would like. However, we would encourage you to share as much information as possible beforehand, so that we can best advise you on how we can help with your project. We can also offer advice on the situations where an open-source hardware or software approach might also provide a benefit to your project, but we are very happy to work at the level of confidentiality that you are comfortable with. WHAT IF I JUST WANT A DESIGN OR 3D MODEL? Each and every piece of work we do is a service specific to that client's needs. We are happy to work on projects that might only need a day or two from us, or to work alongside other contractors, over extended periods, and provide ongoing ad-hoc support to a project. Just send us a few details about your project in the contact form below, and we can start a discussion about how we can best help you.
