SUMMER HOME TOUR 2021: SEASONAL SIMPLICITY SERIES Welcome! I am happy to invite you in for a little peak around our home this summer. It’s gotten hot and sticky over the last few days here in Alabama. After what I felt like was the most lovely spring weather, summer has crept in and is likely to be here for a while. I am thrilled to be joining 23 other home decor bloggers to share simple summer touches around our homes. Each season we open PRESERVING BOXWOOD: HOW TO AND A CHALLENGE I’ll also want to update you all with a few tips from the process. 1. The stems that were in the jars didn’t do as well as the ones in the wide containers. Several of the stems had a fuzzy mold on them. I probably stuffed them too tightly. 2. In order to make HOW TO RESTORE AN ANTIQUE WITHOUT REFINISHING. How to use Howard’s Restor-A-Finish to restore antique furniture without refinishing. Begin by cleaning the antique furniture with a soft cloth dampened with soap and water. Dry thoroughly. A DRY CREEK BED, FOR BEAUTY AND DRAINAGE As I mentioned in the Hillside Landscape post, our backyard consists of a small flat area near the house and a cleared hillside that continues up into a wooded area. Once we moved and settled into our home, we realized that the hill was actually one large Alabama sandstone rock loosely covered with a combination of weeds and grass. The dirt layer over the rock varied from a foot or so deep, to NEW AGAIN: AN IKEA KALLAX HACK OR HOW TO ADD SLIDING DOORS My next New Again project, is simple way to add sliding doors to an existing bookshelf or IKEA Kallax. (This bookshelf is actually the Expedite which was replaced with the Kallax several years ago.) New Again is an ongoing series shared by some of my best, most talented blogging friends. Each month we make over an existing or tired piece and give it new life. It’s so inspirational to see all 5 INEXPENSIVE DIY PROJECTS USING CEDAR FENCE BOARDS Want to know the best kept secret in the lumber yard? Head over to the fencing area and you will find it. Yep, untreated cedar fence boards are perfect for inexpensive DIY wood projects. With a little effort sanding and finishing, I think cedar is more attractive than traditional cheap pine boards. Need proof? Check out each of these tutorials using cedar fence boards.
