ACCESSORY DECODER ADDRESSING Accessory Decoder Addressing Accessory Decoders are addressed by three digit numbers. The digits in question are Hexadecimal (Base 16) numbers, not Decimal (Base 10). Overview. Accessory addresses are used to identify accessory (or stationary) decoders or sub-functions thereof.. Accessory addresses are not simply different addresses that happen to identify accessory decoders instead of21MTC INTERFACE
SHINOHARA TURNOUTS
Shinohara Pre-DCC turnout. They can be identified easily: Metal bars connect the switch rails, no gap before the frog, and the point rails have no gaps at the frog either. On the underside, it will have the Shinohara name cast into the tie, code, and size of switch. There will be no wires bonding the closure and point rails to the stock rails. CONFIGURATION REGISTER 29 Sum, Hex. $26. The default value for CV29 is 6 (Bits 1 and 2 are set to One/On), in both decimal and hexadecimal numbers. As shown in the examples, adding a value of $20 to the default value in CV29 by selecting bit 5 allows extended addresses. Subtracting $20 from the value in CV29 by deselecting bit 5 turns it off.TURNOUT MOTORS
A Turnout Motor or Switch Machine is a mechanical device which electrically controls a turnout's alignment. There are several types, slow motion machines, such as the pictured Tortoise by Circuitron, soleniod types, and motor driven screw types. A slow motion machine uses a stall motor with large ratio gearing. DCC++ FOR HOME BREW DCC SYSTEMS DCC++ Components. The DCC++ system consists of a DCC++ Base Station and DCC++ Controller. The DCC++ Base Station consists of an Arduino microcontroller fitted with an Arduino Motor Shield that can be connected directly to the tracks of a model railroad.. The DCC++ Controller provides operators with a customizable GUI to control theirmodel railroad.

DCCWiki is an encyclopedia for sharing information about Digital Command Control (DCC) as defined by NMRA used in railroad modelling. We also started a new section for the new Layout Command Control (LCC) standard from the NMRA which can be used to enhance your layout with signalling, accessory control, and other features. DO-IT-YOURSELF DCC PROJECTS The Arduino is a microcontroller. It is not a computer. It is designed to run software to do a specific task, such as controlling a garage door opener or a microwave oven. In fact, it is very similar to a DCC decoder. It can be used to control turnouts, signals, read RFID tags,ACCESSORY DECODER
Accessory decoders can be used to control turnouts, structure lights, scene lighting, animation, and signalling.. An NMRA compliant accessory decoder (sometimes called a stationary decoder) is intended to be controlled by the same DCC power used for multifunction decoders or via the throttle bus. From a DCC perspective, the difference is address partitioning and types of outputs. RAILCOM AND RAILCOMPLUS RailComPlus appeared in 2010. The LokProgrammer can also be used to upgrade decoder software or install new sound files. The LokProgrammer is a small external box, connected between a computer and the programming track. To connect requires a serial interface, or the included USB Adapter cable and MS Windows. Includes a 500 mA power supply.SPEED MATCHING
Speed Matching. Running Stands in use. These were made by Bachrus Inc. Picture by don7. This method involves running locomotives on a long section of track and timing how long a locomotive takes to travel that distance. For N scale, you'll need 15-20 feet, you'll have to adjust this method to your scale. Measure out a known distance on yourHORNBY ZERO1
Hornby Zero1 Main article: DCC History Hornby Railway's Zero1 was one of the first command control systems to be implemented with Digital technology. It was designed and manufactured by Hornby in the United Kingdom. The Zero1 master controller was built around amicrocontroller.

PECO UNIFROG
From PECO: The wiring of these new turnouts is a development of both the Insulfrog and Electrofrog designs. For current users of the Electrofrog or Insulfrog versions of our turnouts the new Unifrog gives modellers the best of both worlds. As supplied, the turnout is wired completely “live”, except for the frog tip and wing rails, and can be used straight out of the packet without any CAB BUS - THE DCCWIKI Summary: The Cab Bus is what NCE calls their throttle network protocol. It is a polled network which supports up to 63 addresses. In addition to NCE, Wangrow's System One and PSI's DYNATROL also employed the Cab Bus protocol. A subset of the Cab Bus is the Command Bus, used to link boosters together. DECODER PROGRAMMING LOCK It is referred to as the locking number. It must have a unique ID, as it identifies a specific decoder in a multiple decoder installation. As is, the decoder should have a value of 0 (zero) in CV16, as that is the as-shipped reset value, or 255, Broadcast ID, so all decoders can be programmed at the same time. The purpose is to protect the user from any contact with high voltages. These power supplies may or may not have an earth ground on the high voltage side, depending on the design. Connecting your DCC system to earth ground completely defeats the purpose of the SELV power supply, and is a safety issue. Your DCC system should float. DCC BOOSTERS SEND DATA AND POWER TO TRAINS. A Booster is an amplifier for Digital Command Control signals. It amplifies the low voltage (logic level) data stream created by the command station which is then applied to the track. It supplies the power needed to operate the trains. The output is an exact copy of the digital waveform supplied by the command station. DCC READY - THE DCCWIKI DCC Ready. This is a cousin of DCC Plug and Play, meaning that you can install a decoder, often a drop – in type is available, without a lot of fuss. Sometimes the decoder simply replaces the light board. With a screwdriver and a few minutes, conversion is easilyaccomplished.

Consisting allows the modeller to faithfully replicate prototype operations by creating a consist or lashup of several locomotives to haul a train. This has the effect of creating one large higher horsepower locomotive controlled by one engineer. With Digital Command Control, a Multiple Unit Consist can be easily created and operatedfrom one throttle.
SOLDERING/TROUBLESHOOTING SOLDER PROBLEMS You can remove solder with a solder sucker or solder wick. If the solder wick isn't working well, apply a little flux first to the wick. Generally, as long as the joint is shiny you have a good joint. A dull colour indicates trouble.
