BULLDOGS IN THE DRAFT: MONTY RICE “He’s one of the kids that God just made a football player.” That’s what Monty Rice’s high-school coach Wade Waldrop said about him when college recruiters came to James Clemens High in Madison, Alabama to scout players. BULLDOGS IN THE DRAFT: MARK WEBB In preparation for the NFL Draft, Mark Webb participated in the Senior Bowl to improve his draft stock. To Georgia fans, one of the highlights of the entire week belonged to Webb, who intercepted Jamie Newman on Day 2 of preparation. BULLDOGS IN THE DRAFT: MALIK HERRING We continue our look at draft-eligible Bulldogs with a defensive line stalwart from Middle Georgia. Malik Herring was a Bulldog before he was a Bulldog. A Mary Persons Bulldog, that is. Herring BULLDOGS IN THE DRAFT: ERIC STOKES Stokes was essentially a developmental prospect who Kirby Smart recruited for his speed. It’s likely that Stokes never would have made it to Athens if Georgia had been able to land Jamyest Williams, a then 4-star who was a consensus Top 100 overall player in the class of2017.

He played in 7 games as a true freshman. His contributions to Georgia’s fortunes over the next 2 1 ⁄ 2 seasons were immense over his 44 games-played career: Eight career interceptions. Stokes was a 3-star defensive back out of Covington, a small town of about 13,000 residents 40 minutes east of Atlanta. He was a three-star prospect who wasn’t always a take for UGA. In fact, Stokes was more known for his track skills as a high-schooler. SLOW DOWN, KIRBY! AND THAT’S WHEN I KNEW IT’S NEVER TOO EARLY TO START You see, Clemson students have a history of showing their asses on the University of Georgia’s campus. It was only two years ago when a Clemson student drew swastika’s on over a dozen doors in Russell Hall.Clemson being Auburn with a lake, one could understand why Clemson students would want to travel the 75 miles down to Athens, a town that actually has nightlife. KEVIN BUTLER'S 60-YARD FIELD GOAL TO BEAT THE CLEMSON 25 years ago today, Kevin Butler's famous 60-yard field goal allowed the Georgia Bulldogs to beat the second-ranked Clemson Tigers and inspired one of Lewis Grizzard's most famous columns.
