IN MEMORIAM: LEGENDARY ATHENS MUSICIAN DANIEL HUTCHENS HAS I saw the rumors on social media and received text messages from old friends in the scene, but hoped it wasn’t true. Unfortunately, it now appears that Daniel Hutchens of the legendary Athens band Bloodkin has passed away. Hutchens and Bloodkin co-founder Eric Carter came to Athens in 1986. Both natives of Huntington, West Virginia, they had YOUR FRIDAY MOMENT OF BULLDOG ZEN That’s why we’re now offering Your Friday Moment of Bulldog Zen, a red and black photo from the archives which allows you to find your center, and cultivate gratefulness that you’re not, for example, a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket fan. TOM CREAN ISN’T GETTING IT DONE, BUT APATHY AND IGNORANCE Tom Crean isn’t Getting it Done, but Apathy and Ignorance Will Keep Him in Charge. Georgia’s SEC Tournament hopes ended before they ever really started Thursday night. Despite the scoreboard showing that the contest was close throughout, the Dawgs were dispatched by Missouri in a game that it never really felt like they were in. ‘DAWGS ON TOUR: THE LIST Don’t let the current ranking fool you; he was top 50 in the world for a couple of years and snuck inside the top 20. Harris English #185, #17, 2 wins). He’s got “conditional” status on the PGA Tour, due to a lackluster 2018-19 season and narrowly missing out on full status at the Korn Ferry Tour finals. “KIRBY CAN’T DEVELOP” This afternoon Mark Webb went to the San Diego Chargers with the 241st pick of the NFL Draft. With the selection of Webb, Georgia has now had nine players drafted in the 2021 Draft. Fans of SLOW DOWN, KIRBY! BREAKING DOWN WHAT NEW COMMITMENT DE’NYLON MORRISSETTE Georgia picked up its 13th commitment of the 2022 class on Friday when De’Nylon Morrissette gave the Bulldogs his pledge. The wide-receiver will become the latest in a long list of Dawgs who are Snellville products, and he is a strong addition to BULLDOGS IN THE DRAFT: MONTY RICE Bulldogs in the Draft: Monty Rice. “He’s one of the kids that God just made a football player.”. He played in 7 games as a true freshman. His contributions to Georgia’s fortunes over the next 2 1 ⁄ 2 seasons were immense over his 44 games-played career: Eight career interceptions. BULLDOGS IN THE DRAFT: MALIK HERRING Malik Herring was a Bulldog before he was a Bulldog. A Mary Persons Bulldog, that is. Herring starred for the Forsyth school with a storied football program, earning AJC Super 11 recognition as a senior, dominating on defense. An all-around athlete, Herring also caught 6 touchdown passes from his tight end spot for the Bulldogsfrom Monroe County.
BULLDOGS IN THE DRAFT: ERIC STOKES Unlike his contemporaries, Eric Stokes took the hard road to draft day. Stokes was a 3-star defensive back out of Covington, a small town of about 13,000 residents 40 minutes east of Atlanta. He was a three-star prospect who wasn’t always a take for UGA. In fact, Stokes was more known for his track skills as a high-schooler. SLOW DOWN, KIRBY!
