ALL ABOUT CYBER MONDAY IN THE UNITED STATES GET THE DETAILS ABOUT THE BIGGEST ONLINE SALES EVENT OF THE YEAR Cyber Monday in the United States is one of the biggest events of the shopping season. It’s Black Friday – but for the internet! Justhow big is it?
In 2017, more than $6.59 billion dollars were spent on Cyber Monday, which is a 16.8% increase, compared to the year before. We can expect this trend to continue, due to major stores like Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and more participating in Cyber Monday. You can expect to find huge discounts, too. Retailers regularly have items on sale for 30-50% off of their retail price, although supplies are usually limited. Last year, items like Canon digital cameras went for 50% off, Xbox One consoles sold for 30% off, and Fitbit trackerswere 25-34% off.
While you can’t redeem most Cyber Monday deals in stores, you can often order online for in-store pickup, allowing you to make the most of Cyber Monday, even if you prefer to pick up your items in thestore.

You can expect most stores to have their Cyber Monday pages up by 12:00AM on Sunday night, though this is not always the case. In addition, some stores have more than just a Cyber Monday sale, and extend it through a week – or the entire month. You might see sales continue through Tuesday and Wednesday, or even longer! Some stores also lump Black Friday and Cyber Monday into a single weekend sale. And, like Black Friday, which now starts on Thursday at some retailers like Best Buy, some Cyber Monday deals may launch before Monday, so keep your eyes peeled for the best deals. Do you wanna know when the Cyber Monday starts and ends at your favorite store? Click here, find your shop and check its date. HOW LONG DO CYBER MONDAY SALES USUALLY LAST? Cyber Monday only lasts one day at most major locations in the United States. Amazon, for example, only has a one-day Cyber Monday sale in the United States, though this sale is often extended in other countries like Germany. As mentioned, though, there are some companies that will start Cyber Monday early, or extend the sale through the next day or two. Mostly, though, you’ll find the best deals on Monday, and this is the best time to shop. Stocks are usually quite limited, so if you wait to shop, you could miss out on a great deal.Next dates

HOW TO SAVE EVEN MORE MONEY ON CYBER MONDAY With so many retailers offering deep discounts, and the start of the winter holiday season in the United States, there’s a lot going onon Cyber Monday.
And to maximize your savings, we’ve put together a list of the following tips. Be prepared! Most stores won’t be announcing the specifics about the deals they’re offering until the week before Cyber Monday, so you’ll want to plan ahead as much as possible.Clip Those Coupons
Not all Cyber Monday deals are automatically activated when you go and shop on a retailer’s website. In some cases, you may need to find a Cyber Monday coupon on the retailer’s website, and enter it formaximum savings.
If this is the case, we recommend checking out coupon websites, and browsing through the published advertisements for Cyber Monday, to make sure you don’t miss out on discount codes.Shop Early
To get the best deals on Cyber Monday, you’re going to have to shop early. Typically, the items sold at the steepest discounts sell out by mid-morning at the latest! Consider waking up a few hours before work or school to take advantage of the best deals on Monday morning. If you’re seriously hardcore, you can stay up until 12:00 AM on Monday, when most retailers begin offering their deals.Get Free Shipping
To get free shipping on your order, you may have to order a certain amount of merchandise. Last year, for example, you could only get free shipping from Nike if you bought $99 or more of merchandise. So, if you’re shopping and you’re close to getting free shipping, consider adding another item or two to your cart, to stretch your dollar even further. Get Email Newsletters If you want to get the low-down on the best deals during Cyber Monday, you’ll want to make sure you have signed up for email adults with your preferred retailers. For example, if you want to buy a new gaming console, you may want to sign up for email newsletters from Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, andGamestop.
This way, as soon as Cyber Monday deals are announced, you’ll be thefirst to know.
MORE INFORMATION
WHAT WAS CYBER MONDAY LIKE LAST YEAR? Last year, more retailers participated in Cyber Monday in the United States than ever before. Total sales volume was estimated at $6.59 billion, up from $3.39 billion in 2016. That’s nearly as much as Black Friday, which clocked in at $7.9 billion in sales in 2017. The convenience of online shopping likely has as lot to do with the rising popularity of Cyber Monday, which could eclipse Black Friday in sales volume in 2020. Almost every major US brick-and-mortar retailer participates, along with many online-only shops. And if you only watch one retailer, make it Amazon. Last year, Amazon made up nearly 50% of holiday e-commerce sales, and the company shows no sign of slowing down. There are sure to be some fantastic deals at Amazon during Cyber Monday 2020. HOW DID CYBER MONDAY GET STARTED? Cyber Monday is relatively new. Though “Black Friday” traces its roots back to the 1950s, the term “Cyber Monday” was coined in 2005, by an American businesswoman named Ellen Davis. At first, adoption of Cyber Monday was quite slow, as some Americans were not sure about how safe it was to shop online, and companies like Amazon.com were still rather small. But over time, sales increased. There were $608 million in Cyber Monday sales in 2006, and they increased to $733 million and $846 million in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Sales continued to increase by double-digit percentages, and between 2013 and 2014, they jumped 17%, to more than $2.038 billion. Today, Cyber Monday is nearly as large as Black Friday, and the dealsare just as good.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT CYBER MONDAY? IS SHOPPING ONLINE SAFE? Yes. Shopping online is completely safe, and it’s actually become the preferred method for most American consumers. eCommerce sales make up more than 10% of all purchases in the United States You are protected by the law when you shop online, as well. Retailers have to process your credit card data using approved methods, and take steps to protect your personal information using Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) standards. You also are protected by FTC regulations regarding the return of faulty or misleading items, and you can also request charge-backs for items purchased online with a credit card. IS IT WORTH WAITING FOR CYBER MONDAY? Well, that depends on what you want to buy! For electronics like computers, televisions, and cell phones, you’ll often find the best sales during Cyber Monday – but there are other great sales, too. Black Friday, for example, usually involves great online sales and discounts, so don’t ignore these deals. You can also find great deals on apparel, electronics and more during yearly back to schoolsales.
Seasonal sales are also common, especially around American holidays like Independence Day, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and Christmas. You can also find good deal all year round with discount codes – so check out a few of these deals, and see if it’s worth waiting! BLACK FRIDAY VS. CYBER MONDAY Black Friday will take place on the Friday after Thanksgiving. This year, that will be November 23. The biggest difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is that, usually, the best Black Friday deals are only available in stores. In contrast, the best Cyber Monday deals are typically exclusive to online stores. HOW DOES CYBER MONDAY IN THE UNITED STATES COMPARE TO…… EUROPE
Cyber Monday started in the United States, but is growing quickly in Europe. In 2017, Cyber Monday sales revenue increased in Europe by 39%, while it only grew about 16.8% in the United States. This is likely because fewer European shoppers are taking advantage of Cyber Monday. But as the holiday continues to grow, so will sales in Europe. It’s only a matter of time until they equal – or overtake – Cyber Monday sales in America. … THE REST OF THE WORLD Cyber Monday has not caught on everywhere. While it’s becoming a more common shopping holiday in the UK, France and the Netherlands, as well as Canada, most non English-speaking countries don’t celebrateit.
The biggest shopping event in the world, for example, is November 11: 11/11, also known as Singles Day in China. Last year, more than 40,000 brands from 25 different countries participated in Singles Day, bringing in billions of revenue. Other similar shopping events include Boxing Day in the UK, Canada, Australia, and Ireland, which is celebrated the day after Christmas. In addition, there is El Buen Fin (The Good Week) in Mexico, which occurs the week before Revolution Day (November 20th), and is celebrated with shopping sprees. As Cyber Monday continues to grow, it’s sure to become more common worldwide, even in areas where it is not yet celebrated or observed by consumers and retailers.
