Posted in St Nicholas Church MESSAGE FROM MICHAEL LOEBENBERG COMMANDER FOR AYLESBURY VALE POLICEAREA 01/04/2020
Posted on April 1, 2020by Gary
I understand that this is a difficult and worrying time for a lot people as we all make significant adjustments to our daily lives to follow the measures set out by the government. These measures have been put in place to stop the spread of Coronavirus, protect the NHS and save lives and I thank the vast majority of people in Aylesbury Vale who are following the requirements. You will be aware that the police were given new powers to help reinforce these measures. Our approach here is to engage with the public, explain what is required, encourage compliance and only if necessary will we then enforce using the powers available to us. Here in Aylesbury Vale we continue to protect our communities, with a real focus on preventing harm in particular to the vulnerable and bringing offenders to justice. This week already we have executed two drugs warrants, arrested 7 people for drugs supply, 2 of which have already been charged and remanded in custody and made significant seizures of property and money under the Proceeds of Crime Act. We have arrested someone today who is being recalled to prison for breaching his licence, and arrested an individual as part of our continued focus on domestic violence. Our officers and staff are here for Aylesbury Vale and I thank them for their dedication to duty andprofessionalism.
This current climate offers up a lot of uncertainty which can make people feel anxious, unsettled and fearful but I want to reassure you that my team and I are still policing your communities, we continue to respond to emergencies as well as taking forward criminal investigations to protect the public from harm, and we will support the Government’s restrictions as I have described. I want to say a huge thank you to our communities for the support you have shown me, our officers and staff, and our key partners across the local authority and NHS. By continuing to stay home, you can protect the NHS and save lives. Thank you again for your co-operation during these challenging times. You can view the video message from Supt Loebenberg on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TVPAylesburyVale/videos/236613634128383/ Useful information and advice: For more information on the Government’s restrictions, please visitthe GOV.UK website.

Posted in St Nicholas Church NEWS FROM BUCKINGHAMSHIRE COUNCIL Posted on March 28, 2020by Gary
BUCKINGHAMSHIRE COUNCILS LIFT ALL PARKING CHARGES AND RESTRICTIONS TO SUPPORT COMMUNITIES DURING CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK All council car park charges and on-street parking restrictions have been lifted today across Buckinghamshire. The five existing councils have taken the unprecedented step to help support communities, key workers and volunteers during the Coronavirusoutbreak.
The changes will mean all council car parks across the county will be completely free to use and all parking restrictions lifted. This includes parking on yellow lines, limited waiting areas and in pay and display bays. Residents permits will also be extended by a month. Restrictions on disabled parking will however remain in force. Parking officers will continue patrolling the main routes, car parks, and residential areas to help deal with any obstructions to support emergency services, key workers, essential food deliveries andresidents.
If any vehicle does cause an obstruction, officers will attempt to locate the owner via the permits database so that the vehicle can be moved to a safer place. If owners can’t be located, vehicles will be towed to the nearest safe position. This will only be used as a last resort and will be to relocate vehicles, not remove themcompletely.
Leader of Buckinghamshire’s Shadow Executive, Martin Tett said the new measures were sensible and appropriate given the circumstances. “With most people working from home, parking is at a premium, so this gives everyone more flexibility and should help keep routes clear. If you live near to a council car park, please feel free to use it if it’s suitable. “It should also make it easier for those key workers and volunteers who need to get around to help those most vulnerable in ourcommunities.”
Martin added: “My only plea to motorists is to park sensibly and safely for the benefit of everyone and maintain social distancing. If we all pull together and use our common-sense, we can make a huge difference for those needing to get around in these testing anddifficult times.”
These changes will be regularly reviewed and may be amended in line with further government guidance. Some car parks are closed overnight, so please check the following links for further details. Specific questions or queries can be sent to the relevant area e-mail addresses. This app has just been launched today with researchers at Guy’s & St Thomas’ & King’s college to help slow the spread of #COVID19 and identify at risk cases sooner by self-reporting your symptoms daily, even if you feel well. Download the app https://covid.joinzoe.com Please share the app with everyone you know on WhatsApp via a broadcast. They need to get this to a lot of people fast to collect enough data to see the hidden cases – the iceberg if you like that we are sailing into. The App is fully functional and will be more beautiful over the nextfew days!
Share the app and share your “well/ill” status and let’s get some data for the policy makers to work with. Initial feedback of the site’s inability to register children’s symptoms have been forwarded to the investigators. Anything further you can add/feedback will all help to capture what’s going on in the community vs just what we’re capturing in tertiary care.It all helps.

Thames Valley Police report March 2019 Neighbourhood Policing Team 1. Appeal for witnesses after an attempted burglary – Aston Abbotts A recent attempted burglary has been reported on Wingrave Road, AstonAbbotts.
At around 7:10pm on Sunday (22/04) the resident heard noises at his rear kitchen door. On checking it he discovered two men attempting to force the door open. On seeing him the men ran from his garden to a red or burgundy hatchback type vehicle, which had been parked at the front of the property. The vehicle left in the direction of the A418. Detective Constable Gemma Howe, based at Aylesbury Police Station, is investigating this crime. She said “Other local residents might have seen a similar vehicle in the area, on Sunday afternoon / evening. “Also, if you live locally and have CCTV, please review it, to see if anything relevant has been picked up. “Please call me if you have any information about this vehicle, orany CCTV images.”
DC Howe can be contacted on the 24 hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 43180120674. 2. 5. The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) have noticed an increase in Action Fraud reports where fraudsters are offering a discount on Television service provider subscriptions. Fraudsters are cold-calling victims, purporting to be from a Television (TV) provider offering a discount on their monthly subscription. Victims have been told the following: their subscription needs to be renewed; that part or all, of the TV equipment has expired and they are due an upgrade on the equipment/subscription. In order to falsely process the discount, the fraudster asks victims to confirm or provide their bank account details. The scammers may also request the victim’s identification documents, such as scanned copies of passports. The fraudsters are using the following telephone numbers: “08447111444”, “02035190197” and “08001514141”. The fraudster’s voices are reported to sound feminine and have an Asianaccent.
Later victims make enquiries and then discover that their TV service provider did not call them and that the fraudster has made transactions using the victim’s bank account details. This type of fraud is nationwide. Since the beginning of this year (2018), there have been 300 Action Fraud Reports relating to this fraud. From the reports received, victims aged over 66 seem to be themost targeted.
What you need to do
• Don’t assume a phone call or email is authentic: Just because someone knows your basic details (such as your name and address or even your mother’s maiden name), it doesn’t mean they are genuine. Criminals can exploit the names of well-known companies in order to make their scams appear genuine. • Don’t be rushed or pressured into making a decision: a genuine company won’t force you to make a financial decisions on the spot. Always be wary if you’re pressured to purchase a product or service quickly, and don’t hesitate to question uninvited approaches in caseit’s a scam.
• Stay in control: Have the confidence to refuse unusual requests for personal or financial information. Always contact the company yourself using a known email or phone number, such as the one written on a bank statement or bill. Visit Take Five (takefive-stopfraud.org.uk/advice/) and Cyber Aware (cyberaware.gov.uk) for more information about how to protect yourselfonline.
If you are going away, don’t let uninvited guests visit your home!– Aylesbury Vale
AUGUST 2018
It’s that time of year when many of us will be heading off onholiday.
Holiday periods increase the chances for opportunist burglars, so before you go please read these tips for keeping your home securewhile your away:-
• Check that you’ve double locked all your doors and windows and put keys away. If you have an alarm, make sure that you set it. • Lock your garden gates with a good quality padlock and lock toolsand ladders away.
• Use lights on timer switches and consider leaving a radio on, tuned in to a talk station. Lights can also be purchased that imitate the flickering light of a TV. • Think about what you are advertising on social media. If you ‘check-in’ at an airport or other holiday destination, make sure it’s not a public post – this information could be very useful to an opportunist criminal! • Tell a trusted neighbour that you are going away and get them to check your home and move post away from the front door. Make sure they have your contact details in case of a problem. Maybe ask them to open and close your curtains. • Ask a friend or neighbour to park on your drive and make sure that your bin is put out and then brought back in. • Cancel the milk and papers if you have them delivered. We hope that you enjoy your holidays and if you follow this advice it will greatly reduce the chances of an opportunist burglar visiting you while you’re away! For more crime prevention advice please visit the Thames Valley Policewebsite.

Victims are being contacted by people claiming to be either from Thames water or Dyno Rod, saying that their drains are blocking and require specialist equipment to clean them, costing around £500 tohire.
At one property in Wendover the money was handed over and we are aware of several other attempts in Aylesbury. If you receive an unsolicited phone call, or someone comes to your property, don’t always believe what they are saying. Scammer will try and get your confidence and may use technical information, to make it sound like they know what they are talkingabout.
Consider using a call-blocking service, which will stop calls that aren’t in your address book coming through, unless you authorisethem.
You can find more advice and information by visiting the Buckinghamshire and Surrey Trading Standards or Action Fraud website. You can also download a copy of the Little Book of Big Scams (attachedbelow).
Please look out for vulnerable friends, neighbours or family and make sure they know how to deal with unsolicited telephone calls. CUBLINGTON REMEMBERS Posted on December 4, 2018by Gary
The 11th November marked the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1. To mark this occasion the residents of Cublington curated an incredible exhibition of social history, focusing on family members of Cublington residents who served, and some who made the ultimatesacrifice.
This short article tells just some of these stories with a focus on current residents and their connection to both wars and otherconflicts.
Please forgive any omissions or inaccuracies. Many thanks to all who gave their time to curate such a moving archive available here as a pdf download. It is hoped that in time many more documents and information from the exhibition will be publishedonline.
