CRAZY GREEN THUMBS
Yes! And It’s Delicious!!! This soup makes use of spring garden ingredients: peas, lettuce, spring onions and tarragon. If you have ever grown peas you know shelling peas is BUILDING THE PERFECT RAISED BEDS Cardboard and paper trash is a gardener's treasure! This is a Hugelkulter/Keyhole cross, garden bed. I have grown in beds by this design for close to 10 years and I love them! I can grow an endless amount of things in these beds. This is a banana inMELON TRELLISING

Getting melon vines off the ground keeps the powdery mildew under control and I can easily spray the leaves when the inevitable aphid explosion comes. COOKING WITH LETTUCE?!?! YES! AND IT’S DELICIOUS Bring to a boil; reduce to a simmer. Cook for 6 minutes covered. Add half of your lettuce and replace the lid, raise to a boil and let it steam a little. Uncover and stir the peas and broth up over the top of the lettuce until it wilts. Add remaining lettuce (Yes, it will fit!) and spring onions (or scallions). CURING AN EXTRA ITCHY CASE OF THE GARDENING STUPIDS Curing An Extra Itchy Case Of The Gardening Stupids. I would bet that most gardeners have a list of a few things that they do, out of habit, that are counterproductive. For me it’s gardening without gloves or long sleeves. I almost never wear gloves or long sleeves. I love to work the soil with my hands, I weed bare handed and I harvest bare SO, I MADE A POTATO TOWER After the potatoes, I put another layer of soil in and topped that off with composted, bagged, cow manure. Then another nest of straw. And so it went, until I ran out of potatoes. I topped it off with soil and manure and put my last potatoes, eyes up, with THE GREATEST GREEN YOU’VE NEVER EATEN: SWEET POTATO LEAVES Add lemon juice and sweet potato leaves. 4. Cook until just wilted and still bright green. 5. Plate and add parmesan. 6. Serve warm. I hope you have a chance to try sweet potato leaves. I am now trying to figure out exactly how many of these leaves I can harvest before Iaffect the tubers!

EVER HAD SPICED HIBISCUS FLOWER TEA? One of my favorite plants to grow down here is hibiscus. It is truly a beautiful plant and the flowers are breathtaking. I am not the only one who appreciates hibiscus. We frequently have hummingbirds in the garden sipping hibiscus nectar. My favorite part about the plant though, is that it's edible. I'm going to share my pear journey with the hard to find, but ridiculously tasty Biscamp pear. There's not much information out there and even 6 years, post purchase, the company I bought it from still has very little information and nothing new added to their website. I bought my Biscamp pear from justfruitsandexotics.com I MELTED PERLER BEAD AND PONY BEAD CRAFT PROJECTS For Perler beads, or for a combination of the two, you will need to line the cookie sheet with parchment paper. Last year our summer was baking hot: 100+ degrees for months and no rain. It was hard on my trees, especially my pear tree. My pear gets iron chlorosis (many fruit trees do) and also I had calcium deficiency in the fruit BEGINNING GARDENER: CLASS 4-WALKING YOU THROUGH WHAT YOU This is the fourth and final installment of my beginner gardening tutorial. For this class I decided to list some of my favorite books and growing aides.
