We used bottle tops, washers, nuts and used coffee pods. HOW TO MAKE DELICIOUS STINGING NETTLE CORDIAL • CRAFT INVADERS Nettles are a nutritious and versatile wild food. Here we make a delicious Stinging Nettle Cordial, one of my favourite nettle recipes. Google the health benefits of eating stinging nettles, and you will find the most incredible list of diseases and complaints that this plant is said to treat — everything from hay-fever and arthritis to supporting menopause and detoxifying the body. HOW TO MAKE DELICIOUS, HEALTHY STINGING NETTLE CRISPS I have talked before about the substantial nutritional benefits of stinging nettles in some of our other nettle recipes. They have a wonderful taste which is showcased in both this Stinging Nettle Cordial recipe and our original Stinging Nettle, Apple and Pear FruitLeather.

In other words, for every litre of chopped green matter, you should add 5 litres of water. Please note, I don’t measure mine but rather aim for that ratio. Pop on the lid and leave to steep for 3 or 4 weeks. The liquid compost will smell as it HOW TO MAKE UNIQUE ECO PRINTS USING A STEAMER • CRAFT INVADERS The general consensus seems to be that you should use a mordant to encourage the colours to stick when making eco-prints. Alum (potassium aluminium sulfate) (Amazon affiliate link) appears to be the mordant of choice so I dutifully ordered some along with some acid-free watercolour paper (Amazon affiliate link) which I hoped would be robust enough to cope with the steaming. WE TEST THE BEST HOMEMADE REED DIFFUSER OIL RECIPES Water and Vodka Reed Diffuser Test. We have read many recipes that suggest using water with a splash of vodka as a DIY Reed Diffuser solution. We combined 90mls water with 10mls vodka and added the 15mls fragrance oil. Despite lots of mixing we couldn’t get our diffuser base and fragrance to combine. The lid and reeds were attached asbefore

HOW TO MAKE WILDFLOWER SEED BOMBS • CRAFT INVADERS How to Make Wildflower Seed Bombs. We used the ratio of one cup of flour to 3 cups of compost and combined it well before adding our seed. Once we had added our seed, we tried to handle it gently so not to damage any of it! We added just enough water so that the mixture would hold together. HOW TO MAKE A TREE BARK RUBBING • CRAFT INVADERS Tree bark varies wildly between species of trees, and taking a rubbing is a great way to focus on the different patterns and textures, as well as making a record of a particular tree’s bark. The process itself is super simple. We used waxed crayons and plain white paper, and used the side of the crayon to take our prints. HOW TO WEAVE A SIMPLE WILLOW WREATH • CRAFT INVADERS Weaving a willow wreath is very simple. Start with the thicker sticks, and finish with the thinner. Take the first stick and weave it into a rustic hoop the diameter you want your wreath to be. Leave the tail piece from where you started sticking out of your ring (as shown in the photo below). Add the second stick to the ring a quarter turn MARBLING BOTTLES WITH NAIL POLISH • CRAFT INVADERS How to Marble Glass Bottles with Nail polish: Use warm tap water, and gently drop the nail polish on to its surface. If you just tip it in quickly, it may sink to the bottom, so use the brush held just above the water to control the flow. Once you have added your choice of colours, use a cocktail stick to mix them up to get a marbled effect. DIY WORMERY: HOW TO MAKE A WORM COMPOST BIN • CRAFT INVADERS Raising the wormery on blocks will make it easier to access the tap and drain off the liquid into a container. Set this box to one side.
