Adoption is a permanent way of finding families for children who need them. Adopters come from a variety of backgrounds, just like the children waiting to be adopted. LIVING TOGETHER AS A FAMILY Once the match has been approved you will be able to meet the child for the first time. After a length of time, when you and the social workers agree that the child has become established in your family, you can make the adoption legal and settle down as a family. HOW TO TRACE BIRTH FAMILY MEMBERS Tracing members of your birth family can be a complex and lengthy process. You will need to find as much as you can about your origins and family background. This is usually done by accessing your birth certificate and your adoption records. Private fostering is the term used when someone who is not a parent or a 'close relative' (eg. great aunt, cousin, mum's friend or a neighbour) is looking after a child or young person under the age of 16 (under 18 if they are disabled) for 28 days or more in their own

The fee level for agencies in London will have an additional weighting of 10%, giving a figure of £29,700. In Scotland fees are agreed with the Scottish government, local authorities and CVAA.
