Iconic Crawford Notch Scenic Train Ride. In 2020, we renamed our ‘Notch Train’ as the Mountaineer to recapture the tradition & romance of the historic train that once traversed our lines. Conway Scenic Railroad’s Mountaineer offers a supremely scenic 5 to 5 ½ hour rail journey through the Mount Washington Valley and over the rugged Crawford Notch. DINING AND NORTH CONWAY TRAIN RIDE Lemonade, Milk, Chocolate Milk, Juice, Hot Tea, Coffee or Decaf. $2.25 – Hot Spiced Cider or Hot Chocolate, Beer, Wine, and Mixed Cocktails are also available. Special dietary needs may be accommodated with a minimum of 24 hours notice prior to departure date. Dining Car prices include the meal, First Class train ride, tax, and service charge. As Spring blossoms on the Conway Scenic Railroad, I have lots to write about and just limited time and space to work with. On June 11, 2020 we finally got the word that we can resume public operations. Our planned 2020 reopening is for Saturday June 20 th. CONWAY SCENIC RAILROAD Enjoy an old-fashioned railroading experience with all trains departing from an 1874 train station in North Conway Village. Whether you choose one of Heritage Valley Excursions on the Valley Train or take the Mountaineer to Crawford Notch, this is a journey back in time the whole family is sure to enjoy. VALLEY TRAIN DINNER MENU MENU Entrées. Homemade Macaroni and Cheese served with Steamed Broccoli. Smoked Bacon add $3.00, Grilled Chicken add $4.00, Grilled Shrimp add $5.00. I am following in the tradition of Conway Scenic’s wheel reports, although because I am new to this responsibility, I will approach this in my own way. Some of you may be familiar with my writing as I’ve been supplying railroad literature and photographs to numerous publications since the early 1980s. NOTCH TRAIN NARRATION HIGHLIGHTS Restrooms are available in the following areas of the train: The Hattie Evans (dining car) , CP Reed (First Class car) , Dorthea Mae (First Class, Dome Car), coach #6739, and some other coaches. The North Conway train station was built in 1874 by the Eastern Railroad and was designed by noted architect Nathaniel J. Bradlee of Boston,MA.
