CONDITIONAL STATEMENTS Conditional statements are one of the fundamental building blocks for any coding language. They are just as they sound, if a condition is met then a block of code will run. The simplest form of conditional statement available in Lua is the "If" statement, which indicates that if one or more conditions are met, the following block of code willrun.

Four years ago today, I released the first version of ComputerCraft for Minecraft version 1.0. Today, thanks to some generous sponsors, I’m releasing the first version of the mod for Minecraft 1.8!As well as targeting a new Minecraft version, this new version of ComputerCraft features inter-dimensional modems, international text support, new graphical capabilities, and many new possibilitiesCOMPUTERCRAFT WIKI
ComputerCraft is a mod created for Minecraft by dan200 that adds Computers, Monitors, Modems, Turtles and more! ComputerCraft's Computers and Turtles are programmed with the easy-to-learn Lua programming language. You can use Redstone, RedPower or even MineFactory Reloaded alongside with your devices for the bestexperience.
LOOPS - COMPUTERCRAFT WIKI Variable is a number that will track where we are in the loop. It is usually called "i", or something more appropriate to the script. Start is a number to indicate the start point for the loop. In a simple loop this will typically be 1, but you may have need to start with other values. End is the number the loop will count to. VARIABLES - COMPUTERCRAFT WIKI Variables can be defined in a number of different ways, reliant on the type of data that is being stored. String variables can store any text or "string" that you will use in your script. Strings can be defined as follows. local Text = 'This is a string!' local MoreText = "This isalso a string!"
OS.PULLEVENT
Function os.pullEvent: Waits (yields) until an event occurs, and returns details about that event before removing it from the event queue. If a "filter" is specified, it will wait until an event matching that type is found in the queue - any events that enter the queue before that one are also removed, so take care not to "discard" ones you don't need!FUNCTION (TYPE)
Functions are a useful tool that helps simplify code, separating it by functionality and reducing repetitiveness. Understanding functions is key to becoming a successful coder. When a function is defined in Lua, it will most likely look like this: function FunctionName () --Do stuff end. But may occasionally look more like a regular variable. REDIRECTION RELEASE DATE! Posted on October 12, 2016by dan200
As some of you know: when I’m not making Minecraft Mods, I like to make games. WE’RE BACK!
Posted on May 6, 2016by dan200
Hello! Long time no see! If you visited computercraft.info in the last week or so, you might have noticed something. Or rather: noticed nothing, because the site has been completely inaccessible forall of this time.
What happened? On April 28th, a disgruntled forum member with delusions of being a master hacker launched a sustained DDOS attack on our site. Due to certain misconfigurations on our server, this one-man attack was enough to make the site completely unusable for severaldays.
Not satisfied with this, on May 1st, the script kiddy discovered the password of one of the moderators on our forum , and started wrecking havoc on our user database. At this point I decided to take the server offline. This week, I’ve been assessing and repairing the damage, and with the help of Luke and Paul from CreeperHost , have completely rebuilt the server from scratch, in a way that (fingers crossed) should be much more resistant to these kinds of happenings. Dealing with these kinds of jerks is the worst part of running a website, and initially I wanted to run screaming and vow never to host an online service again. But now the site is back up again, I’ve mellowed a bit and I’ve actually enjoyed the learning process of rebuilding the servers from scratch. I’d like my week back though. Anyhow: Thanks to everyone for being patient during this outage. Enjoy your uninterrupted browsing!Posted in News

SPECIAL THANKS
Porting ComputerCraft from Minecraft 1.7.10 to Minecraft 1.8 was a huge task, requiring approximately 200 manhours of work, fixing 1,736 compile errors, and completely rewriting large portions of the code. This time investment would not have been possible without the financial support of two generous sponsors:* MINECRAFT U
Minecraft U teaches problem solving and programming techniques in a safe, encouraging ecosystem centered around Minecraft.* DEEP SPACE
Deep Space has been turning kids into coders with ComputerCraft for years. They’re taking their teaching beyond the classroom by building online education for people that love Minecraft, programming, Arduino, robotics, IoT and more. If you’re at all interested in programming education, check out their websites. They’re both doing great work using ComputerCraft. If you have a vested interest in ComputerCraft and you’re interested in sponsoring future versions of the mod, get in touch. Thanks also to everybody who helped with beta testing this update. Thanks to some thorough testing and quality bug reports, we’ve fixed over 65 issuesin this update.
Finally, thanks to everyone who has kept on experimenting and building things using ComputerCraft over the last 4 years. I’m incredibly proud of the community creations that ComputerCraft has inspired. In the new year, I’ll be formally announcing a new project I’ve been working on that should expand our community even further, so watchthis space.

INTRODUCING: COMPUTERCRAFTEDU Posted on July 1, 2015by dan200
Ever since I released the first version of ComputerCraft back in 2011,I’ve always
been amazed and impressed by the number of people who’ve come up to me to tell me they’ve used ComputerCraft to teach themselves programming. Even more impressive is the number of school teachers and educators who’ve taken it upon themselves to use the mod to teach programming to others. Today, I’m announcing the release of a new project that takes the educational potential of ComputerCraft to awhole new level.
ComputerCraftEdu is a project I’ve been working on for over two years with TeacherGaming , the people who made MinecraftEdu and are responsible for putting Minecraft into thousands of schools around the world. In the same vein as MinecraftEdu, ComputerCraftEdu is a streamlined version of ComputerCraft designed for use in learning and education, to teach the next generation of programmers how to code. The two main features of the mod are “Beginner’s Turtles” and the “Turtle Remote”, which provide a powerful new visual way to program ComputerCraft Turtles and learn the fundamentals of programming. ComputerCraftEdu is especially designed for schools using MinecraftEdu, but it’s available to everyone with a PC version of Minecraft. VISIT WWW.COMPUTERCRAFTEDU.COM TO DOWNLOAD THE MOD, and check outthe provided wiki
and tutorial
videos
to learn more about how the mod plays. We hope this project will introduce even more players to the power and joy of programming, and help to inspire the next generation of coders.Posted in News
