Wakely Mountain is located in one of the more remote sections of the central Adirondack Mountains. The 3.2 mile hike to the 3744 foot summit consists of two sections: the first is nearly hiking two miles on what's left of an dirt old road, while climbing about 500 feet in elevation and then a relatively steep 1.2 mile climb to the summit with the remaining 1150 feet gained in elevation.INTERLOKEN TRAIL
The Interloken Trail is part of the 900+ mile Finger Lakes Trail System. It is a 12 mile trail located completely in the Finger LakesNational Forest.

January 27, 2021. The fire tower on Cathedral Rock was originally on Tooley Pond Mountain. It was removed in 1970 and brought to the Wanakena Ranger School Campus. The Glens Falls-Saratoga Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) created the Fire Tower Challenge for those who are gripped with fire tower fever. Spruce Mountain has no views from the summit and you'll need to climb the fire tower (scheduled to reopen sometime in July 2015) to see the views. There is a newly professionally built hiking trail that travels to the tower.MOSS LAKE LOOP
A pleasant 2.5 mile walk around Moss Lake located in Fulton Chain Wild Forest off Big Moose Road north of Eagle Bay. This easy hike is for all family members. The hike starts at the main parking area off Big Moose Road and is located close to the Old Forge area.PHARAOH MOUNTAIN
Pharaoh Mountain at 2556 feet high, offers a 360 degree view of the vast Pharaoh Lake Wilderness area with its many ponds and lakes. It is a fairly difficult hike with a full pack. LAKE HARRIS CAMPGROUND Lake Harris State Campground is located east of the hamlet of Long Lake in the Central Adirondacks. The campground is located on scenic Lake Harris, which empties into the Hudson River. The Adirondack Interpretive Visitor Center as well as a popular trailhead for the High Peaks located nearby. There are numerous other great hiking opportunities nearby. FERRIS LAKE WILD FOREST The 147,454 acre Ferris Lake Wild Forest is located on the southwestern edge of Adirondack Park. The Ferris Lake Wild Forest is roughly bounded on the north and west by NY 8, on the east by NY 10, and on the south by the Adirondack Park "Blue-Line." Surrounding nearby state lands include the Black River Wild Forest and West Canada Lake Wilderness to the north, and Shaker Mountain Wild ForestCLOCKMILL POND

Three Falls Woods is an unknown gem located in the triangle between Sweet Road, NY 173, and Troop K Road in the Town as well as Village of Manlius. Three Falls Woods is 175 acres of hardwood forest, a maze of paths, boulders, trees, waterfalls, cliffs and rock outcroppings. These woods is accessed at the along Sweet Road. There is a CNY Land Trust Parking Area along Sweet Road.QUEER LAKE LEAN TO
A hike to a perfectly located lean to on a beautiful Adirondack lake is the main feature of this 3.5 mile one way trip in Pigeon Lake Wilderness. You'll visit the lean to located on Queer Lake. The scenic spot includes large hemlocks, spruce and white pines as well as large boulders next to the shore for perfect relaxation in the sun. PEPPERBOX WILDERNESS The 23,816 acre Pepperbox Wilderness is located in the northwestern Adirondacks in Herkimer County, just north of the Moshier Reservoir and the Beaver River. There are very few marked hiking trails in this remote wilderness area and it has a very limited amount of visitors. It is one of the smallest wilderness areas in the Adirondacks. The northern border of the wilderness is the West Branch AUBURN - FLEMING TRAIL - CNY HIKING Auburn-. Fleming Trail. January 28, 2021. Cranberry Lake is the northern gateway to the 107,230 acre Five Ponds Wilderness, while Stillwater Reservoir is the southern gateway to this remote wilderness. January 27, 2021. The fire tower on Cathedral Rock was originally on Tooley Pond Mountain. It was removed in 1970 and brought to the Wanakena Ranger School Campus. It was slowly rebuilt on the 1700 foot summit of Cathedral Rock. This fire tower is part of the ADK Fire Tower Challenge and is located on ESF property near Cranberry Lake offNY 3.
ROME SAND PLAINS UNIQUE AREA All 16,000 acres of the Rome Sand Plains Unique Area are located within the city of Rome. It is one of only a handful of inland pine barrens in the country. This natural treasure consists of high sand dunes and low peat bogs, along with pine barrens and hardwood forests, meadows and wetlands. There are multiple trails located in the UniqueArea.

At 4528 feet, Saddleback Mountain is the seventeenth highest peak in the Adirondacks. This peak is located along what is considered the most spectacular stretch of trail in Adirondack Park. The Ferris Lake Wild Forest is roughly bounded on the north and west by NY 8, on the east by NY 10, and on the south by the Adirondack Park "Blue-Line." If seclusion is what your after, then Irish Hollow is for you. Located in the 908 acre Maxon Creek State Forest, which is already a difficult state forest to access, any visit to Irish Hollow is a challenging hike. However, it is worth the effort to explore this special place. AUBURN - FLEMING TRAIL - CNY HIKING Auburn-. Fleming Trail. January 28, 2021. This is a flat 1.6 mile trail following an old railroad bed through woods, wetlands and farmland connecting NY 34 in the Town of Fleming to Dunning Ave in the City of Auburn. QUEEN CATHARINE MARSH LOOP TRAIL The Queen Catharine Marsh Loop Trail (QCMLT)was created by the Finger Lakes Trail Conference and is part of the nearly 1000 mile Finger Lakes Trail System. The QCMLT has become a popular loop hike in the Watkins Glen area. The QCMLT is 6.3 miles long and when you utilize a 1.2 mile stretch of the main Finger Lakes Trail you create a pleasant7.5 mile loop hike.
PHARAOH MOUNTAIN
Pharaoh Mountain at 2556 feet high, offers a 360 degree view of the vast Pharaoh Lake Wilderness area with its many ponds and lakes. It is a fairly difficult hike with a full pack. There are 2 marked trails to the summit with approaches from Crane Pond (from the northwest) and from Pharaoh Lake (from the the southeast), which is the steeper ofTROUT POND TRAIL
The Trout Pond Trail at Letchworth State Park, also known as Trail 3, features scenic Trout Pond. The trail is a favorite of hikers that like loop hikes. For those looking for a longer loop hike can utilize the Hemlock Trail. The trail uses an old carraige road and passes by a grove of red pines that were planted in the 1930s. The trail is mostlylevel.
RAYHILL MEMORIAL TRAIL The 3.8 mile Phillip A Rayhill Memorial Trail is located in Oneida County, connecting the towns of New Hartford and Whitestown. This paved trail is plowed in the winter, making it a year round recreational trail. The Rayhill Memorial Trail was built in 2006 as part of the Judd Road (NY 840) connector project. WAKELY MOUNTAIN
Wakely Mountain is located in one of the more remote sections of the central Adirondack Mountains. The 3.2 mile hike to the 3744 foot summit consists of two sections: the first is nearly hiking two miles on what's left of an dirt old road, while climbing about 500 feet in elevation and then a relatively steep 1.2 mile climb to the summit with the remaining 1150 feet gained in elevation.CATHEDRAL ROCK
January 27, 2021. The fire tower on Cathedral Rock was originally on Tooley Pond Mountain. It was removed in 1970 and brought to the Wanakena Ranger School Campus. It was slowly rebuilt on the 1700 foot summit of Cathedral Rock. This fire tower is part of the ADK Fire Tower Challenge and is located on ESF property near Cranberry Lake offNY 3.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN
The Glens Falls-Saratoga Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) created the Fire Tower Challenge for those who are gripped with fire tower fever. Spruce Mountain has no views from the summit and you'll need to climb the fire tower (scheduled to reopen sometime in July 2015) to see the views. There is a newly professionally built hiking trail that travels to the tower.PILLSBURY MOUNTAIN
This is a moderate 3.2 mile roundtrip hike to the summit of Pillsbury Mountain with spectacular views from the fire tower. A good choice for those who want to avoid the crowds that are on other popular mountains. At 3597 feet, it’s one of the highest peaks in the Southwest Adirondacks, and the short climb of 1.6 miles ends at a fire tower with a panoramic vista. There is a pleasant hiking trail along an old railroad bed that is popular with both campers and day use visitors. This campground is located 12 miles east of Paul Smiths off County Route 30 and north of Saranac Lake. Boaters can enjoy Buck Pond, Lake Kushaqua and the Kushaqua NarrowsSPRUCE MOUNTAIN

At 4528 feet, Saddleback Mountain is the seventeenth highest peak in the Adirondacks. This peak is located along what is considered the most spectacular stretch of trail in Adirondack Park. The 0.2 mile summit ridge of this mountain has peaks on each end with a pronounced dip in between, giving the mountain a profile of a saddle.PILLSBURY MOUNTAIN

LAKE HARRIS CAMPGROUND Lake Harris State Campground is located east of the hamlet of Long Lake in the Central Adirondacks. The campground is located on scenic Lake Harris, which empties into the Hudson River. The Adirondack Interpretive Visitor Center as well as a popular trailhead for the High Peaks located nearby. There are numerous other great hiking opportunities nearby. FERRIS LAKE WILD FOREST The 147,454 acre Ferris Lake Wild Forest is located on the southwestern edge of Adirondack Park. The Ferris Lake Wild Forest is roughly bounded on the north and west by NY 8, on the east by NY 10, and on the south by the Adirondack Park "Blue-Line." Surrounding nearby state lands include the Black River Wild Forest and West Canada Lake Wilderness to the north, and Shaker Mountain Wild ForestCLOCKMILL POND
Clockmill Pond. January 28, 2021. An old logging road now takes hikers and snowmobilers to several ponds and lakes including scenic Clockmill Pond. The journey to this pond is located along Powley-Piseco Road, 14.8 miles north of NY 29A or 4.3 miles southwest from NY 10. If seclusion is what your after, then Irish Hollow is for you. Located in the 908 acre Maxon Creek State Forest, which is already a difficult state forest to access, any visit to Irish Hollow is a challenging hike. However, it is worth the effort to explore this special place. AUBURN - FLEMING TRAIL - CNY HIKING Auburn-. Fleming Trail. January 28, 2021. This is a flat 1.6 mile trail following an old railroad bed through woods, wetlands and farmland connecting NY 34 in the Town of Fleming to Dunning Ave in the City of Auburn. It is an easy walk or bike through a very scenic area. ROME SAND PLAINS UNIQUE AREA All 16,000 acres of the Rome Sand Plains Unique Area are located within the city of Rome. It is one of only a handful of inland pine barrens in the country. This natural treasure consists of high sand dunes and low peat bogs, along with pine barrens and hardwood forests, meadows and wetlands. There are multiple trails located in the UniqueArea.
