More about the field of naturopathic medicine More about naturopathic medical education More about Naturopathic Accreditation See CNME Accredited Programs TRIBUTE TO JIM SENSENIG, ND: NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE PIONEER For more than 40 years, Dr. Sensenig devoted himself to the practice of naturopathic medicine and, more broadly, to establishing a strong basis for the ND profession in the U.S. As the first president of AANP, Dr. Sensenig played a seminal role in the creation of the CNME. He and his colleagues at the time understood the necessity of establishing a federally recognized accreditation agency for our schools if we were to achieve professional licensure and gain credibility within the healthcare system. Fortunately, the timing was right for establishing an agency capable of achieving federal recognition. Dr. Sensenig championed this effort, which included publicly testifying for CNME’s recognition in the face of determined opposition. His persuasiveness helped carry the day!
