What Do We Mean By Just Transition? “Just Transition is a principle, a process and a practice.” ~ Just Transition Alliance. Just Transition is a vision-led, unifying and place-based set of principles, processes, and practices that build economic and political power to shift from an extractive economy to a regenerative economy. INDIGENOUS AND TRIBAL SOVEREIGNTY Indigenous Just Transition. In recognition of the federal trust responsibility — as a legally enforceable fiduciary obligation on the part of the U.S. to protect Indigenous treaty rights, lands, assets, and resources — now is the time for the U.S. to invest in Indigenous-led Just Transition. Just Recovery. It takes roots to weather the storm, a pandemic, economic collapse, and a neglected democracy. In the midst of the trauma and toll that storms such as Katrina, Sandy, and Maria have had on our communities, the current pandemic’s inequitable impacts, or the long history of economic and political disenfranchisement, frontline communities have created sophisticated and strong CJA AND THE GREEN NEW DEAL The Frontlines Are Taking the Lead. From the Democratic Primaries to the first 100 Days of the Biden/ Harris Administration, Climate Justice Alliance members (from Detroit, Houston, Miami, Philadelphia, Indian Country and throughout the US), made their mark on the 2020 elections by centering frontline community solutions. CJA members hosted candidate forums, organized rallies and direct OUR TEAM - CLIMATE JUSTICE ALLIANCE Darryl Molina Sarmiento is the Executive Director for Communities for a Better Environment, a 40-year-old environmental justice organization that builds local power through community organizing, research, and legal support in Wilmington, South East Los Angeles, East Oakland, and Richmond, California. RISKS OF GLOBAL CARBON MARKETS AND CARBON PRICING 1 End the Era of Extreme Energy (fossil fuels, nuclear power, waste and biomass incineration, landfill gas, mega-hydro, and agrofuels) which pose extreme risks to local ecosystems and communities. 2 Reduce carbon emissions in line with what science says is necessary to avoid catastrophic climate change. 3 Build urban and rural economic societies that offer real-world solutions to the climate GROUNDING IN JUST TRANSITION Grounding in Just Transition Toolkit. The three tools that make up the Grounding in Just Transition tool kit are: Being the Change, Building Our Movement of Movements and A Guide to Community-Driven Just Transition Planning.Each curriculum clearly outlines the time

Energy Democracy represents a shift from the corporate, centralized fossil fuel economy to one that is governed by communities, is designed on the principle of no harm to the environment, supports local economies, and contributes to the health and well-being for all peoples. CJA is committed to the goal of maintaining global temperatures at a 1.5 Celsius increase above pre-industrial levels JOBS - CLIMATE JUSTICE ALLIANCE Position Overview. The Black Membership Organizer is responsible for supporting and expanding the capacity of the Climate Justice Alliance Black Caucus by working in collaboration with the Black membership, Black Caucus leadership to manage priorities and develop a long term strategy for organizing.
