Those vehicles include: Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of more than 8,500 pounds. Note: If the tag office states the vehicle must be tested, the motorist must complete the GVWR Letter Application and present SENIOR EXEMPTION APPLICATION The applicant must be 65 years of age and the vehicle must be 10 model years or older to be eligible. Additionally, the vehicle's odometer must be functional and the applicant's name must be the first name listed on the Georgia title or registration. Tag Renewal Deadlines Extended to June 15 To Allow Motorists More Time to Complete Emissions Tests Vehicle registrations that expire between March 16, 2020, and June 14, 2020, are being extended through June 15, 2020. Learn more.
If you do not feel comfortable traveling to an inspection station for testing at this time, you have until June 15 to complete your emissions test and registration (if your registration is due between March 16, 2020, and June 14, 2020). At this time, no additional extensions or waivers are available. If this changes, we will postupdates here.
Some inspection stations have temporarily closed during this time; however many stations remain open. We recommend that motorists visit our list of testing stationsto view the contact
information for testing stations in their area, and call ahead in order to confirm operating hours before traveling to a station. Some county tag offices and all Georgia's Clean Air Force Customer Service Centers have temporarily closed. Please contact your countytag office
