BEAVERS – NUISANCES OR WATERSHED HEROES? Beavers are the quintessential ecosystem engineer! They change a landscape like no other species in the world, besides humans. NEW UPPER CLARK FORK WATER TEMPERATURE GAGE New real time water temperature gage provides valuable river information in the Upper Clark Fork. The Clark Fork Coalition recently teamed up with the George Grant Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), and the Natural Resource Damage Program (NRDP) to fund a seasonal water temperature monitoring site on the upper Clark Fork River (near Garrison, MT) for the WHO WE ARE - CLARK FORK COALITION Since 1985 the Clark Fork Coalition has worked to help heal and protect the vital waters of the Clark Fork basin. We organize and educate community members to learn about and care for the river, helping to make our waterways clean, healthy, and whole again.UPPER CLARK FORK
The Upper Clark Fork is the center of one of the most remarkable restoration stories in the world as mining pollution is cleaned up along 100+ river miles.COPPER CLIFFS MINE
Potential Copper Cliff Mine in Blackfoot Valley. Near the old mining ghost town of Garnet, at the headwaters of Union Creek above the lush, rural Potomac valley, there’s an outcrop of rock stained iridescent blue and green with copper minerals. That colorful cliff has inspired numerous attempts to see if there’s ore where that color came from, and the most recent explorer is Kennecott FLATHEAD - CLARK FORK COALITION The Flathead subbasin is one of the most pristine river systems in the Lower 48, boasting Flathead Lake–the largest freshwater lake in the West–as well as the wild and wonderful South, North and Middle Forks of the Flathead River. CLARK FORK COALITION BOARD, VOLUNTEERS & FUNDRAISING The Clark River Coalition board is dedicated to fundraising, advocacy, and the restoration of the river ecosystems throughout the Clark ForkRiver basin.

BEAVERS – NUISANCES OR WATERSHED HEROES? Beavers are the quintessential ecosystem engineer! They change a landscape like no other species in the world, besides humans.MISSOULA WATER
Supporting public ownership of Missoula’s water. Missoula’s local water utility, Mountain Water Company, was in private ownership for over a century — since a colorful local named “One-Eyed Riley” began hauling water out of Rattlesnake Creek and selling it door to door in the late 1800’s. WHAT IS RIVER REC MONITORING? Ask anyone at the Clark Fork Coalition what the best thing about living in the Missoula is, and the answer is unanimous: the rivers. Missoulians are rich in river recreation opportunities, and you don’t have to work at a river conservation organization to see the values that a river flowing through town provides—just take a stroll down the river trail on any given day and you’ll see MONTANA MINE WASTE: SILVER BOW CREEK CLEANUP PROJECT CFC discusses the importance of the superfund mine waste clean up sites along the Clark Fork river and basin in the greater Missoula, MTarea.
