CKNJ UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP Paxton Media Group announced last week the purchase of Landmark Community Newspapers LLC, a chain of daily and weekly newspapers based in Shelbyville. The deal, which was finalized this week, includes the purchase of all 46 newspapers in the Landmark chain. “We are very excited to add these TAYLOR COUNTY FAIR BEGINS THIS WEEKEND After the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the Taylor County Fair last year, it is set to open this Friday at the fairgrounds, on American Legion Road off of Hwy. 55, without a hitch. FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION IN THE WORKS This year’s Campbellsville-Taylor County 4th of July Celebration, scheduled from July 2 to July 4, aims to be as normal as possible. WHO WERE THE LONGHUNTERS? Though often overlooked by history, few contributed more to the knowledge of Kentucky’s early topography than the 18th century longhunters. When pioneer settlers moved west into America’s frontier, they did so with knowledge provided by longhunters who had explored the region before them As colonists from Europe quickly populated and farmed the east coast of newly discovered America, the GRAND JURY INDICTS 24 A Taylor County Grand Jury handed down 24 indictments last week: • Darius Dornes, of Campbellsville, was indicted on a charge of felony rape in the first degree. Jeremy Wood, chief financial officer for the Taylor County School District, brought good news to board members during Monday night’s meeting. “For this fiscal year, our projected revenue is $17.6 million and our projected expenses through June 30 are $17.5 million,” he said. It has been almost seven months since Shafter J. Couch was shot and killed through a kitchen window at his home. And it’s been nearly four months since David Ford of Campbellsville was murdered in his home. Police have yet to make an arrest in either case.
