1964 CHEVELLE OPTIONS (1) Not listed on Chevelle Options Final Report (2) Tailfins & Bowties figures indicate that there were 23,558 convertibles sold in 1964 and reports 19,258 convertibles were sold with optional color manual (C05) or optional electric folding top (C06). This leaves 4,300 convertibles unaccounted for. It is known from ECL codes that 8,363 black manual tops were ordered and 1,480 beige manual tops1964 ACADIAN
The nameplate was to be introduced in Canada based on the Corvair platform but was moved to the Chevy II/Nova platform in 1962 where it remained through the 1963 model year. In 1964 the Acadian nameplate was moved to the Chevelle and Chevy II/Nova lineup with the Chevelle version getting the Beaumont, Beaumont Custom, and Beaumont SportDeluxe

A typical 1969 Chevelle VIN might read: 136679B410561 being a Malibu V8 2-dr convertible assembled in Baltimore, MD. and is the 110,561st 1969 model year Chevelle sequenced at the Baltimore, MD. assembly plant. The VIN plate is located on the forward part of the dash so the VIN plate could easily been seen through the windshield of the car.1972 CHEVELLE VINS

A typical 1968 Chevelle VIN might read: 138378A160163 being an SS396 2-door sport coupe assembled in Atlanta, GA. Beginning in 1968 the VIN plate was moved from the driver side body A-pillar to the forward part of the dash so the VIN plate could easily been seen through the windshield of the car. The VIN plate was riveted to a special bracket 1967 CHEVELLE ENGINE ID CODES 1967 saw the first year the 396 V8 camshaft abandoned the grooved rear journal and matching bearing in the engine block in favor of a smooth journal like the 283/327 V8. Any camshaft from a 1965 or 1966 396 engine can be used in a 1967 or later block but not the other way around. This groove is clearly visible in this photo on the camshafton
