BUILD YOUR SHED ON A CONCRETE SLAB The top surface of your slab should be about 5 inches off the ground. This will allow your siding to overhang about 1 inch, then provide a 4 inch gap between the ground and the untreated wood siding. This 4 inch gap is your best defense against termites and moisture getting to the shed. And often times this is in the building code. 8X10 SHED PLANS, FREE MATERIALS & CUT LIST, SHED BUILDING 8×10 Shed Plans, Materials & Cut List, Cost Estimate Worksheet. I’m using pressure treated 2×4’s in the floor and turning them sideways HOW TO MAKE A WOOD FLOOR FOR YOUR METAL SHED OR PLASTIC SHED A sturdy wood floor for your metal shed or plastic shed. In this case I used 2×4 floor joists 16 inch on center. Then you can either cover the floor with 3/4 inch CDX plywood or 1/2″ OSB. If you live in an especially wet area or termite prone area you could make the entire floor out of pressure treated wood. This chart shows the estimated cost to build a gable roof shed with my $7.95 plans and compares it to the price of a tuffshed and estimates how much money you can save by building our own. I’m using tuffshed as an example because they are a nation wide company and probably the most popular shedbrand around.
And they build a very nice shed.COST ANALYSIS

You will notice that the larger sheds are much cheaper to build in terms of the cost per square foot. And in cases of going from 6 to 8 ft, 10 to 12 ft, 14 to 16 ft, and 18 to 20 ft in length it costs very little to build the next longer size. This is because certain sizes have a lot of waste and the next length up has very little or no waste. And you are paying for the lumber whether you use it in the shed or cut it off and throw it away. BUILD YOUR OWN SHED AND SAVE $$$ This is an estimate of the cost to build each of my 4 shed plans in various sizes from 8×4 to 16×32. Building your own shed can save you 40-60% of the cost of buying a kit or a ready made shed.SIZE

NOTES
* These costs are approximate and vary with the price of materialsin your area.
* I haven’t worked the numbers out for the Lean-To Style Sheds because there are so many length, width, height and overhang combinations. But their construction is the closest to the Regular Gable sheds so the costs will be similar for the same height shedwithout overhang.
* Tall barn prices don’t include a loft or overhang. If you want overhang it will be closer to the Deluxe Gable cost. * Deluxe Gable costs are based on 12:12 roof pitch. A more shallow pitch will be cheaper. * The smaller shed prices are more accurate than the larger ones because the waste is more predictable. * The more careful you are to use your scraps and plan your cuts, the lower your final cost will be. VERIFY THE COST TO BUILD YOUR OWN… These costs are based on prices in my area. Lumber and building materials might be cheaper or more expensive in your home town. All plans include a materials list and cost estimate worksheet. Print out this materials list and cost estimate worksheet and take it down to your local building supply store and price it for yourself. COMPARE MY MOST POPULAR SHED PLANS HERESHARE THIS:
