Two-day courses £390, includes all refreshments, lunch made from Homeacres produce, VAT. The course is about understanding the simplicity of no dig methods, and learning to use that knowledge to garden more efficiently and economically. The main contents are below, but days 1 & 2 often overlap. JUNE 2020 EXTREME WEATHER, EARLY HARVESTS, MULCHING, NO May was the driest ever month here, in 47 years of my records. 1990 came close with 4mm rain compared to 3.2mm (0.13in) in May 2020. In the last 20 years, the previous driest May was 2010 with 34mm, so 2020 is quite an outlier. JULY 2020 SUMMER UNFOLDS WITH MORE SOWINGS, INTERPLANTING This post is also available in: Français (French) June has been warm and with mixed weather, including decent rainfall! of 107mm so far. Rain in June is the best of any month, after the surge of growth inspring.
DEALING WITH BINDWEED, THE LONG HAUL AND MULCH REDUCES THE Dealing with bindweed, the long haul and mulch reduces the work. Reduce the vigour of bindweed, both Convolvulus arevensis, field bindweed with pink flowers, and Calystegia sepium, hedge bindweed with white flowers and longer stems. I have cleared or almost cleared both on large areas, but needed 2-3 years for that. No dig helpsenormously.
GROW LEEKS FROM MULTISOWN MODULES: QUICKER, CHEAPER Grow leeks from multisown modules: quicker, cheaper, easier, high yield. I have been multi-sowing many vegetables since the 1980s, and lately, the method has become popular. No wonder in view of the money, time and space you save in propagation. Then there is the benefit of companion cropping because plants stay with their mates when planted GROW GARLIC, AN EASY CROP WITH NO DIG, HARD OR SOFTNECK Grow garlic, an easy crop with no dig, hard or softneck, tips for harvest. Easier when you have control of weeds, see my other videos for advice on that with no dig. I show the two main types of bulbs, plus elephant garlic which is not a ‘true garlic’ and tastes of leek. Dates here apply to zones approx. 6-10, I CONTAINERWISE CD60 MODULE TRAYS Containerwise CD60 module trays – back in stock. HOW TO GROW LETTUCE: SOW, PLANT, PROTECT PLUS THE CHARLES Lettuce plants can produce for months when harvested by hand (no knife!) and kept tidy (fewer slugs!), I show you the method here. You also see the results of an experiment with different composts for sowing, how to plant and the use of covers to protect from weather and pests. Plus the beds are no dig for few weeds and high quality growth.
HOMEACRES GROWS, NEW LAND. Homeacres grows, new land. I have bought the field at the bottom on my garden! You Tube Plan video 15.12.19 A combination of your you tube channel, the books I have bought from you and following on Facebook, have completely turned my gardening life around. Thank you for being so inspirational, informational, educational and thought provoking over this last couple of years. STEVE RANDLES, CUMBRIA I learned of you while studying organic gardening at a community college in San Antonio Texas. I have since followed you on social media. In my book you are the most inspirational horticulturalist for2019!

I made the mistake of straying from your advice, and I tried “amending” my clay heavy soil in areas instead of continuing to add on compost with no-dig. This winter we’ve had a lot of rain and the only bed that has not flooded is the bed I left as no-dig! Now I know that digging around helps nothing, certainly not drainage. My no-dig bed absorbs the water like its nothingTIMOTHY K

Thank you so much for all the practical information, the exceptional food and the general sense of can-do, my favourite advice of all being ‘Alleviate your worries!’ I spent several enjoyable hours renovating a neglected bed of raspberries using compost and polythene, a job so daunting I had put it off for months. Am feeling veryempowered.

YouTube Beautiful Veg I started this method four years ago and I wish Id known about it decades earlier. We had just bought a big rototiller to start all of our beds before I discovered no dig and ended up selling it. This method works very very well and for very little effort or money.JANETTE LAVENDER
I am in Northern California, a mile east of the ocean. From your videos I attempted my first No Dig garden at the end of 2018. Even through winter storms it started producing, and by the time spring arrived, I had an abundant, healthy, thriving garden, with my nearest neighbours deciding they must take up the method themselves.LINDA SCHNEIDER
This has been my first year of no dig, I had such an amazing time and had loads of produce. Thank you Charles for all your help and amazing videos, and your books are brilliant.ELAINE HUTCHINSON

I thoroughly enjoyed your online course and have learnt so much. I am just starting out on an allotment plot and already notice how few weeds I have compared to my plot-holder neighbours. And I’m lovingweed-free paths!

I started my compost bins after being inspired by your videos in 2018. I had previously given up on composting because it was too hard to turn them as often as the garden books always insist.CINDY CONNER
Californian flower farmer I have learned so much from watching your videos. You’re an excellent teacher — concise and generous at the same time. You helped rekindle my love of growing food. Thank you!ANDREA BERRY
