CATHOLIC STAND
CATHOLIC STAND is an e-publication presenting essays and creative non-fiction, offering substantive resources with thoughtful insights into how to live the Truth that SCIENCE HAS PROVEN THE REAL PRESENCE That’s a good question Ken. I don’t have an answer. I do think, though, there may be multiple reasons. My wife and I do a survey of the 8th grade Confirmation Prep class we teach and in the 2019-2020 class (no 2020-2021 class because of Covid), out of 16 kids only 7 correctly said the Eucharist is the real Body and Blood of JesusChrist.
A QUICK, CATHOLIC GUIDE TO PERSONALITY TYPES Nice overview. You might want to do a little more research on the Myers-Briggs method, though. I attended one of their trainings (basic level, for those giving the test to others), and there was a heavy reliance on Jungian archetypes. THE DOWNSIDE OF ASKING GOD FOR SIGNS A better article would have been “The Downside of Asking God for TOO MANY Signs.” Obviously, we shouldn’t always need a sign to discern His Will; this article well analyzes some of the problems inherent inthat approach.
DISCIPLESHIP
Laurika Nxumalo, born on the Feast of Holy Innocents is a cradle Catholic from the Archdiocese of Pretoria in South Africa. She has been a Lay Associate to the Congregation of the Sacred Stigmata of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Stigmatines) (Order of Catholic priests) for over10 years.
GENERATIONAL SPIRITS Several priests have written books on the phenomenon known as generational spirits and the “Healing of the Family Tree,” which is a process to eliminate the effects of ancestral sins on the present generation. While this is NOT “official” Catholic teaching, it is worthy of a healthy discussion. Ancestral Positive and Negative Effects Many Catholics Generational Spirits – Fact or REFLECTIONS ON THE ASCENSION Recently, we celebrated the feast of the Ascension. The Ascension is an interesting solemnity. Since I encounter it most often in praying the rosary, it always seemed to me to be one of the lesser emphasized of the mysteries, a stop in between the Resurrection and Pentecost. THE EUCHARIST IS THE BODY, BLOOD OF CHRIST I was shocked to learn that up to two-thirds of Catholics believe that the Mass is nothing more than a communion service, and what looks and tastes like bread and wine is nothing more than just that, bread and wine (The Pew Research Center August 4-23, 2020).. Yet the truth is that the most important words in the world were spoken by Jesus at theLast Supper:
THE RELEVANCE OF PAUL IN THE MODERN ERA Anna Rose Meeds is a Catholic writer and speaker who wants to spread hope, truth, and awareness. After struggling through many years of depression, eating disorders, anxiety, aspergers, and numerous other illnesses, she has finally begun to to see a light at the end of the tunnel that she wants to share with all those who need encouragementand support.
DIVINE MERCY AND THE ILLUMINATION OF CONSCIENCE I hate masks. I wear them because of my close proximity to my elderly parents. I feel as though they remove real relationships and we treat one another as lepers. I do not judge what others decide, it is between them and God and I am not here to control people. SIGNS FROM HEAVEN
Signs From Heaven. I used to have a strange, very naive idea that I would be closely united with my father after his death. I know that we are united with the communion of saints, and that death no longer separates us ( Romans 8:38-39 ). I believe we can pray to the saints, and even pray to and pray for our relatives who have gone before us. THE RELEVANCE OF PAUL IN THE MODERN ERA The Relevance of Paul in the Modern Era. When controversial writers in the Bible are discussed, Paul is often one of the first mentioned. For years, Christians clung to his words about faith, fruits of the Spirit, and redemption. However, modern audiences have CATECHESIS ON EMOTIONS The Catechism says “the passions are natural components of the human psyche (CCC 1764).”. The Church recognizes the scientific fact that emotions are physiological movements of the sensitive appetite. They involve our sensory-motor systems, hormones, and neurotransmitters. Neuroscientists agree that emotions arise out of the brain from WHAT "THE CHOSEN" GETS WRONG ABOUT CANA- PART II What “The Chosen” Gets Wrong About Cana- Part II.
