LEG 1: TORONTO TO MONTREAL Leg 1: Toronto to Montreal. We launched from Canada’s biggest city, sailing down Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. Populous multicultural communities line this historic seaway, as well as forts, archaeological sites, parks and traditional Anishinaabe and Mohawklands.

Saglek Base Camp. Newfoundland & Labrador. We sailed through towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls into the awe-inspiring North Arm fiord in the Torngat Mountains National Park, Labrador. With crystal-clear water, flourishing wildflowers and ancient Inuit archeological sites,the
GJOA HAVEN - CANADA C3 The name Gjoa Haven refers to the explorer Roald Amundsen’s ship. This Norwegian expeditioner came to Gjoa Haven in 1903 as part of his attempt to cross the Northwest Passage. Amundsen learned many skills from the local Inuit including igloo construction, traditional caribou clothing and how to lead a CAPE BARROW (HANINNEK) Nunavut. We visited Cape Barrow (Haninnek), Nunavut. This cape’s sheltered harbour was used by Inuit as a traditional hunting ground, and was also used by the Canadian Arctic Expedition in 1915 and 1916. Resolute Bay. Canada C3 visited the second most northerly community in Canada and the most northern community of our journey – Resolute (Qausuittuq), Nunavut! It was a beautiful sunny day, although the locals assured us that Resolute is in fact a very cold place to live. We were greeted by the Mayor of Resolute, Susan Salluviniq, when wearrived.

GJOA HAVEN - CANADA C3 The name Gjoa Haven refers to the explorer Roald Amundsen’s ship. This Norwegian expeditioner came to Gjoa Haven in 1903 as part of his attempt to cross the Northwest Passage.
