UTAH'S MIRROR LAKE SCENIC BYWAY Before I moved to Utah, I only knew the beauty of Southern Utah, with red rock vistas in popular travel destinations like St. George and Moab. Now that I live in Park City, I get to explore a whole new side of the state. One of my new favorite road trips in Utah is the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, which offers tons of lakes, hikes, campgrounds, and best of all, cooler temperatures in the hot summer! WHAT TO WEAR WHITEWATER RAFTING Basically, when you are deciding what to wear river rafting, avoid cotton clothing. Once cotton gets wet, it stays cold, gets very heavy, and sucks out your body heat. What you want to wear whitewater rafting are quick-dry synthetic fabrics that can insulate even when wet. Think wool, Capilene, or “Under Armour” type fabric. RUFFWEAR PALISADES PACK REVIEW After that trip, I decided to purchase the Ruffwear Palisades Pack for our outdoor adventures. I’ve always trusted the Ruffwear brand, as their products are high quality and well tested for outdoor adventure. My favorite dog training guru, Cesar Millan, also recommends a pack for your dog as a way to tire them out. (A tired dog is a happy dog!) BAJA TOURS: SEA OF CORTEZ KAYAKING Just 25 to 150 miles wide, you are never far from the ocean when you visit the Baja Peninsula. As such, most Baja adventures involve water of some kind. There is whale watching, scuba diving, kite surfing, deep-sea fishing, kayaking, snorkeling and so much more. Of course, seafood also plays a major role in Mexican food found in Baja – the ZION NATIONAL PARK: ANGEL'S LANDING HIKE Lodging Near Zion National Park. While I love St George Utah as a base for visiting Zion National Park, if you want to hike Angel’s Landing without the crowds, you must stay in Springdale. My favorite hotel in Springdale is Flanigan’s Inn.It is one of the closest hotels to the park entrance. I was able to walk from Flanigan’s to the Visitor Center (in the dark) in about ten minutes. ARIZONA ROAD TRIP! SIX MUST-SEE SPOTS IN NORTHERN ARIZONA Mid-Range: for Priority Club points fans, the Holiday Inn Express in Oak Creek is dog-friendly and a good value, about 10 minutes from Sedona, but an easy drive. Budget/Camping: For riverside camping, you can’t beat Manzanita Campground, a rustic Forest Service campground in Oak Creek Canyon. Browse Sedona Hotels at Booking.com. ARE DOGS ALLOWED AT THE GRAND CANYON? Dogs are not allowed below the rim on any Grand Canyon trails, and that includes the Bright Angel Trail and South Kaibab Trail, two of the popular trails that lead down to the Colorado River. Fortunately, there are 12 miles of trail along the South Rim that is dog friendly. The pet friendly Rim Trail starts near Grand Canyon village and goes SCENIC ARIZONA TRAIN RIDES: VERDE CANYON RAILROAD In 1988, the current owner purchased the railway and soon began transforming it into one of the only scenic train rides in Arizona. Riding in comfortable Pullman-Standard and Budd Chair rail cars, passengers are treated to a four-hour 20-mile journey from Perkinsville, including a temporary blackout as you pass through a680-foot tunnel.
WHERE TO SEE INDIAN RUINS IN ARIZONA One of the coolest things about living in Arizona is the rich Native American history and the many ruins preserved throughout the state. The American Southwest was a crossroads for Native cultures in both North America and South America, so there are ancient Indian ruins of THE BEST PLACES TO EAT IN PARK CITY Davanza’s – great place for pizza by the slice near the base of PCMR on Park Ave. The locals special is two slices and a soda for around $9.00. Red Banjo Pizza Parlour – Park City’s oldest business has been serving pizza on Main Street longer than the townhas had ski lifts.

INDIAN RUINS IN UTAH One of the coolest things about the Southwest United States is how well-preserved some of the Native American ruins are. I loved visiting Indian ruins in Arizona, so once I moved to Utah, I also wanted to experience the Native American history and ruins that remain scattered throughout Southeastern Utah.Like Arizona, Utah has many very different climates and landscapes, so different WHITE SANDS NATIONAL PARK: DOGS WELCOME! White Sands National Park is located in Southern New Mexico, 16 miles west of Alamagordo. It’s a great weekend trip from Tucson, as it’s only five hours away. The “sand” at White Sands is actually gypsum and the park encompasses the largest gypsum dune field in the world. GUADALAJARA TOURS: TLAQUEPAQUE, TEQUILA AND LAKE CHAPALA Tapatio has four main tours running continuously throughout Guadalajara and surrounding areas. All tours originate in historic Guadalajara near the Rotonda de Los Jalisiences Ilustres. Route One takes you through Guadalajara, from the Cathedral to the Expo Guadalajara and the American Consulate. We also rode along Route 3, toZapopan.
7 SIMPLE STEPS FOR SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL Responsible Tourism Tip #3: Cut Out Disposable Utensils. Along the same line as plastic bottles and drinking straws, cutting out plastic disposable utensils is a great way to promote sustainable travel. 6 million tons of non-durable plastics are discarded every year. Think about how many plastic spoons and forks you’ve used in the pastweek.
