use contributes to climate change and how we can reduce our impact.
Take part in Earth Hour by turning off your lights and electronics and
attending Calgary Unplugged, a free outdoor event for the whole
family. Join the city in celebrating Earth Hour at Olympic Plaza. It's
a family friendly event with hot chocolate, live music, story tellers,
games, and an LED light lantern parade!.
The City of Calgary turns off all non essential lights for Earth Hour
at Olympuc Plaza and the following locations: The Municipal Building,
City Hall, Calgary Public Building and the Manchester Centre Building.

Tobogganing is a great way to get the kids out of the house. We can't
think of a better outdoor family winter activity that is this much
fun. I'm sure every Canadian adult can remember a day of tobogganing
and eagerly await the day when they can take their own children out
for some winter fun. I wonder if those who live where it doesn't snow,
wish they could try a toboggan ride?
Make sure you and your children wear a helmet and are well dressed for
a winter day. Dressing properly for the cold can make or break your

TALISMAN 10 MILE TRIATHLON MARCH 1ST

Challenge yourself with the Talisman 10 Mile Triathlon – 500m swim,
12.5km bike, 3km run. You will start in the water and SWIM 500m in
circles in a single lane shared with 3-4 athletes. Jump out of the
North end of the Competition Pool and run over the timing mat between
the Competition Pool and the Dive Tank. Go through the Learning Room
and to your bike in Gym 1. Cycling shoes will be set up at your bike
along with a towel and nutrition/hydration on your bike. You will BIKE
12.5km on our TACX Flow trainer. You will run 3km (15 laps) of the
200m indoor track. These loops are counter clockwise and on the inside
lane.

The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre is hosting its 22nd Annual
Youth Hiring Fair at the BMO Hall on the Stampede Grounds. Over 80
employers are expected to be in attendance to recruit for over 5,000
part-time, full-time, seasonal and career opportunities.

NATIONAL SERVICE DOGS EASTER EGG HUNT FOR DOGS & KIDS APRIL 10TH

Join us for a fun filled morning of hunting for treat filled eggs with
your furry family member, and help us raise funds for children
impacted by autism and individuals with PTSD to receive their service
dogs.
In 1996, National Service Dogs pioneered the program of breeding,
training and placing Certified Service Dogs with children with autism.
Over the last 16 years, NSD has graduated over 300 Certified Service
Dog Teams, helped many service dog organizations around the world
start their own autism programs, and has started two new programs: the
Skilled Companion Dog Program and the Companion Dog Program.

CALGARY KIWANIS MUSIC FESTIVAL APRIL 20TH TO MAY 10THTH

The Calgary Kiwanis Festival is an educational, non-profit, charitable
organization. It is one of approximately 250 performing arts festivals
in Canada and one of the largest amateur competitive festivals in
North America with approximately 4,000 entries and 12,000 participants
annually.
Since 1931, the Festival has been an integral part of the Calgary arts
community and remains one of the premier performing arts events on the
Calgary arts calendar. It encourages classical and contemporary music
and speech arts performance among amateur students of all ages and
skill levels.
Youth 18 and under make up 95% of our participants. They have the
opportunity to enter a variety of classes such as: band, strings,
woodwind, brass, choirs, handbells, singing, piano, and drama. Each
year, more than 20 highly qualified musicians and actors are hired to
adjudicate their performances, ensuring that each competitor receives
a written and verbal assessment.
