BSSH is the information and education body for Hand Surgery in the UK. We strive to improve the care of patients who suffer from hand injuries and hand disorders through education and research, and by promoting and directing the development of Hand Surgery. BSSH AUTUMN SCIENTIFIC MEETING 2021 BSSH Autumn Scientific Meeting 2021. The BSSH Autumn Scientific Meeting will be taking place on Wednesday 8 September to Friday 10 September at the University of Oxford Examination Schools 75-81 The High Street, Oxford, OX1 4BG. BSSH STANDARDS OF CARE IN HAND TRAUMA The Trauma committee have produced the following standards of care: Closed Hand Fracture management. Open Fracture management. Flexor tendon management. Extensor tendon management. Nerve trauma management. Revascularisation management. WHAT IS HAND THERAPY? What is Hand Therapy? Hand therapy is the non-surgical management of hand disorders and injuries using physical methods such as exercise, splinting and wound care. Hand therapists also treat other upper limb disorders that affect hand function. Some hand therapists also undertake diagnosis and treatment of common hand disorders, includingHAND DISORDERS
Hand Disorders. The hands are an extraordinary part of our body and allow us an ability to perform multiple different activites of potentially incredible dexterity. Unfortunately, things can go wrong and there are a variety of conditions that can affect the hand. These may involve the joints, the bones and the surrounding soft tissues. BEST GUIDELINES ON TRIGGER DIGITS British Society for Surgery of the Hand Evidence for Surgical Treatment (BEST) Evidence based management of adult trigger digits . The document can be viewed here. BEST guideline development is mainly achieved by the voluntary contributions of Guideline Development Groupmembers.

The committee plans and runs the BSSH Instructional Courses that are held in Manchester in February and June each year. Tts meetings are held on the day before each course. NEON STUDY | THE BRITISH SOCIETY FOR SURGERY OF THE HAND The NEON study seeks to answer whether microsurgical digital nerve repair is clinically effective, by comparing two surgical procedures. Eligible patients will have surgery, exploration, washout and repair of all other structures. Additionally 50% of patients will be randomised to traditional nerve repair, 50% to nerve alignment withoutsutures.
