HENRY WILLIAM HUNT = MARY ANNIE JONES Good Evening, I need your help please with the following brick wall I am unable to solve. So here is what I have and know to be correct up to the 1891 census! Henry William Hunt married Mary Annie Jones in St Andrew's Church, St george's Hanover Square, Westminster on 12.07.1887. Henry's Father, Henry Hunt, waiter (Correct) May annie's Father ThomasJones, deceased.# AGE OF MARRIAGE THROUGHOUT THE 1800 AND 1900 There is then a dead James Allin with a Holsworthy reference in 1849. On the 1851 census there, we find a widowed Alice Allin, aged 30. So - I suspect that "13" may be a typo for 23. Given the normal accuracy (or inaccuracy) of ages on both marriage records and census returns, that's pretty close. RHODESIAN RECORDS PRE 1960 Rhodesian Records pre 1960. Hi all, Once again, I don't know if I'm in the right place, but here goes anyway. My grandmother had three sisters, two of whom I can account for. However, the third one, known as Frances, married one Victor Leake. She was born around 1888, so give or take, she was probably married in about 1918. HOW DO I FIND MY DAD'S SERVICE NUMBER? WW2 service records are still held by MoD. You need to apply for a copy of his service record and you don't necessarily need a service number to do that. If you came to us from FWR reading This will tell you about us. As Peter has said service records for WW11 are still held by the MoD and are not online on any site. WHAT IS A NURSE CHILD? Hi Bunty, A 'nurse child' does not signify that the child was from a poor family. Jane Austen (authoress) was born in December 1775 into a reasonably well to do Clergy family but at a few months of her age it is documented that her mother placed her in the care of a woman from a neighbouring village who 'wet nursed' her for the next 18 months. Hello, I too am trying to trace my family who were paperstainers in the East end of London. Briefly, my great grandfather, William Pugh, married Caroline Evans on 12 August 1877 in Hackney, daughter of Samuel Thomas Evans, paperhanging manufacturers at 179 Shoreditch E.STILLBORN RECORDS
As a researcher, I have been told that my father was 1 of twins but the other died at birth. It would have been June 1945 in London and I think it was a home birth. Would my grandparents have to register the death whether they were at home or in a hospital, and can I personally enquire if needed as my father is still alive but my grand parents have passed away now? FIND NEWSPAPER ARTICLE I have a clipping of a newspaper article published in Bootle, Liverpool. It was written about my mother on her first trip back to Liverpool after emmigrating to the USA. My mother omitted the title of the newspaper, including date and author. It would have been published in beginning of 1953. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you. As far as I know they were living in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1930 when the eldest sister "DEGREE OF INSTRUCTION". "WELL" "IMP." "N". In various legal/court records/committal papers I have seen statements such as "can read and write imp. average intelligence", or in book records a column headed "Degree of Instruction" and similar abbr. appear. "well" "imp" "n". Am I to assume this all refers to the person's education - "well" implying quite a bit of schooling, maybe into the young teen years, "imp" meaning "improved" maybe FAMILY TREE RESEARCH Get Help With Your Family Tree. The big awards were announced in The Times of 1 January 1946, but there were so many awards for war work that there was a second batch on 9 January 1946 ('the largest number of awards of the O.B.E., the M.B.E., and the B.E.M. since the war of 1914-18'). This led me to this supplement to the London Gazette, for 9 January 1946: https://www.PAPER STAINER
