WORLD BONSAI DAY 2021 This special edition, commemorative t-shirt features a beautiful illustration of the Yamaki Pine, aka “Peace Tree,” completed by friend of the museum and professional artist, Tina Thieme Brown.The Yamaki Pine is part of the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum collection at the U.S. National Arboretum. BONSAI & PENJING MUSEUM COLLECTIONS IN DC Early construction of the Chinese Pavilion. The Chinese Collection at the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum resides in the Yee-sun Wu Chinese Garden Pavilion. This pavilion is named in honor of Dr. Yee-sun Wu (1905-1995) who was a Hong Kong collector of penjing. In 1996 the pavilion was dedicated and a sign over the entrance in Chinese BOOKS WE'VE PUBLISHED Our Bookstore. Like any great art, bonsai has inspired many artists to capture it beyond the tree and on to the page. The National Bonsai Foundation celebrates these attempts and has published the following books for bonsai lovers of all ages.All of the books are for purchase at Stone Lantern through the buttons below. They make the perfect gift for the bonsai lover in your life. NORTH AMERICAN COLLECTION Juniperus chinensis . In Training Since 1953. Gift of John Yoshio Naka, 1984. This is one of the most recognized bonsai in the world. Originally started to honor Bonsai Master Saburo Kato's mission for peace through bonsai, World Bonsai Day is a BONSAI & PENJING MUSEUM COLLECTIONS IN DC Early construction of the Chinese Pavilion. The Chinese Collection at the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum resides in the Yee-sun Wu Chinese Garden Pavilion. This pavilion is named in honor of Dr. Yee-sun Wu (1905-1995) who was a Hong Kong collector of penjing. In 1996 the pavilion was dedicated and a sign over the entrance in Chinese BOOKS WE'VE PUBLISHED Our Bookstore. Like any great art, bonsai has inspired many artists to capture it beyond the tree and on to the page. The National Bonsai Foundation celebrates these attempts and has published the following books for bonsai lovers of all ages.All of the books are for purchase at Stone Lantern through the buttons below. This is the oldest bonsai in the Museum and was in the same family in Japan from the time it was created almost 400 years ago until gifted to the U.S. in 1976. MONTREAL BOTANICAL GARDEN The Montreal Botanical Garden, or Jardin Botanique de Montréal, is home to about 350 bonsai and penjing from North America, Japan, Northern and Southern China, and Vietnam or similarly tropical areas. About 120 trees are on display at a time, while others are worked on in a service area or greenhouse, depending on the season.
