Grass fires are the main risk this summer in the east, while in the west, the bush is dry. Australian Seasonal Bushfire Outlook: December 2020 – February 2021 New research has begun that explores important issues arising from Australia’s devastating 2019/20 Black Summer. New Black Summer-response research begins Hazard Note 84 identifies which organisational activities are required for effective research utilisation, in order to support agencies in gaining maximum benefit from their investment in research. Closing the gap between research and practice Hazard Note 80 details which types of specific messages encourage community readiness. Emergency warning messages: encouraging readiness to act The Australian Disaster Resilience Index is the first national snapshot of disaster resilience to help governments, local organisations and emergency services improve their communities’ resilience to natural hazards. A new measure of disaster resilience for Australian communities The Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre welcomes today’s announcement from the Australian Government to continue funding natural hazards research in Australia by investing $88.1 million over the next 10 years. New research funding will improve resilience to natural hazards1
