CORRECT MOUNTAIN BIKE TIRE PRESSURE Using the list above as a gauge, start with a high pressure (around 45 psi) using a floor pump. Use this same floor pump throughout the test. Ride at this tire pressure for awhile on the trail and observe the results. Now, go back to the car and lower the pressure 5 psi. Repeat the same process observing the results. SOLVED: CLIPLESS VS FLAT PEDALS Clipless Pedals – The Good. Let’s get into the benefits clipless mountain bike pedals bring to riding when deciding between clipless vs flat pedals. MOUNTAIN BIKE SETUP: 2X9 DRIVETRAINS 36T and 24T Chain Rings – The typical stock setup is a 32T and 22T for your middle and granny rings. In a 2×9 setup, it is good to get a little bit of extra rang out of the front so your buddies don’t leave you in the dust with their big rings on forest service roads. In typical trail riding, you can get away with a 32T in most situations HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT TIRE SETUP FOR YOUR TRAIL BIKE If the trail is rockier and more technical, look for a tire with increased sidewall protection to prevent flats. If you followed the same setup as your front tire, that efficiency could be lost. Tires for the rear typically range from 2.1 to 2.25 (2.35 sometimes depending on manufacturer) widths. 14 MUST HAVE ITEMS FOR EVERY RIDE The following list contains items that you must have with you during every ride. Many riders find it unnecessary to carry all of these items on their local rides, but I have found that it is these rides where I end up needing most of the items on this list the most. CLIX WHEEL RELEASE SYSTEM CLIX Systems, Inc. has introduced a revolutionary new wheel release system, called CLIX™. For the first time ever, riders are able to install and lock their front wheel with no cam adjustment, and with only one hand. The traditional quick release was invented in 1927 and is a safe and effective system when operated correctly. However, correct operation is not inherently obvious to all riders.HOW TO PICK

RIDING RIGID: 6 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD GO WITHOUT By going rigid, you will be forced to use the most important element of you body correctlyincluding weight distributionand this will make you much faster and more controlled when you go back to riding suspension. Your technical abilities on any bike will increase dramatically. My rigid SS 29er is my litmus test on how I am doing inmy riding.
INDUSTRY NINE VS. CHRIS KING The Industry Nine vs. Chris King hub debate is one rivalry that has gotten a lot of press over the last couple of years. The rookie, Industry Nine, has stepped in to try to claim the title. In every great match-up, the race is pretty close. I have owned or currently own both of these incredible hubs. CROSSFIT FOR MOUNTAIN BIKERS CrossFit in short is a training methodology that focuses on “functional movements”, which are basically things you could do in real life (well not me and you, but maybe firemen or policemen, I sit at a desk). You don’t do any isolation exercises like bicep curls. It has compound exercises, many of which are Olympic lifts that worknot

14 MUST HAVE ITEMS FOR EVERY RIDE The following list contains items that you must have with you during every ride. Many riders find it unnecessary to carry all of these items on their local rides, but I have found that it is these rides where I end up needing most of the items on this list the most. HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT TIRE SETUP FOR YOUR TRAIL BIKE If the trail is rockier and more technical, look for a tire with increased sidewall protection to prevent flats. The Deus may be a better option for long legged riders. While climbing, the Race Face Evolve XC seatpost feels solid. I didn’t notice any unnecessary flexing and it was creak free throughout all of my rides.
