The process is essentially the same as water erosion found in nature but accelerated and concentrated by orders of magnitude. It is often used during fabrication or manufacture of parts for machinery and other devices. BIG BLUE SAW: DESIGNING FOR WATERJET Flanges and brackets One of the most common applications, and one of the simplest, is flanges and brackets. These are usually designed to hold multiple parts together, particularly parts that can't be joined with off-the-shelf brackets. TAG: CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES One of the most popular ways to create a 3 dimensional assembly of waterjet cut parts is via the t-nut technique. In this technique, a bolt or screw is passed through a round hole on the faces of one waterjet cut part, and then through a special slot perpendicular to the cut edge of another piece. WHAT TYPES OF FINISHING ARE OFFERED WITH For the past few years, Big Blue Saw has offered a couple finishing options to help parts look great and fit in finished assemblies. Finishing is most critical when the parts are highly visible or are handled by an end user, rather than deep inside LIMITATIONS OF WATERJET CUTTING, PART 3 Taper Parts cut using ordinary waterjet cutting will have a slight taper along the cut edge of the part, typically between 0.0005 inches and 0.01 inches.
