Unfortunately, that word—a sour one to many—has been misunderstood and mischaracterized for far too long and by far too many people. The term, itself, is ratherloaded with various meanings, some even saying that Calvinism—because of its emphasis on the doctrines of predestination and election in particular—is inherently anti-missions. After all, how IS EVERY CHRISTIAN CALLED TO EVANGELIZE? Must every Christian evangelize? The scriptural answer is “yes.”. But I have encountered two main reasons for why some argue the answer is “no.”. 1. The Great Commission was only given to the apostles and therefore does not apply to us today. Interestingly, the phrase “son of God” (huios tou theou) does not appear in the Greek in this verse but is understood because the entire genealogy is a possessive construction beginning in Luke 3:23 in which the word, “son” appears before “Joseph.” THE DANGER OF FOCUSING ONLY ON UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUPS We need not limit ourselves to only unreached people and places. THE THEOLOGICAL IMPORTANCE OF THE TERM “FATHER” FOR GOD The Theological Importance of the Term “Father” for God. The theology of the Father God is critical to understanding the sweep of the Bible and the relationship of Jesus as the eternal Son of God. Early on in biblical history, God reveals himself to Israel as their heavenly Father. “You are the sons of the LORD your God” (Deuteronomy
PAUL’S UNDERSTANDING OF GOD: THINKING BIBLICALLY ABOUT God’s Fatherhood is found in both the Old and New testaments. Paul is clear, the one true God of creation, who is the God of Abraham, who is the Father to Abraham’s seed, is the one and same God who is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. Idols, though worshipped as gods, do not exist. The one, true and living God who exists and sustains THE CHURCH’S BACKBONE The muscle of the church, the place of resolve is found in believers with the courage to stand up and speak the truth. Courage is not being unafraid, but doing what’s right even when you’re afraid. Magdi Allam is a person of courage, resolve, and strength. Allam knows that for Christians, Islam is not the religion of Yahweh, that Yahweh is SON OF GOD IN THE OLD TESTAMENT According to the New Testament, the key identity of Jesus Christ is that He is the Son of God. This is seen in the importance of the need to understand, confess, and believe this about Jesus in the following verses: Matt 16:13-17 13 Now when Jesus came HOW TO EXPLAIN THE TRINITY TO MUSLIMS chinese version Arabic Version كيفية شرح الثالوث للمسلمين Many of those who desire to share the Gospel with Muslims struggle with how to explain the Trinity to them. Muslims are quick to argue against the concept, saying things like “you Christians worship three Gods,” or “God cannot have a son.” These difficulties have caused many FACTORS LEADING TO CONVERSION OF MUSLIMS TO CHRIST 1. “Before I became a Christian, I was”. The people who responded to this survey represented a good cross-section of Muslim society: 40% were moderate. 40% had been nominal Muslims. 20% were self-described fanatic Muslims before their conversion. All of them said fear dominated their relationship with God. 2. IS EVERY CHRISTIAN CALLED TO EVANGELIZE? Must every Christian evangelize? The scriptural answer is “yes.”. But I have encountered two main reasons for why some argue the answer is “no.”. 1. The Great Commission was only given to the apostles and therefore does not apply to us today. First, some argue that the Great Commission was only given to the apostles and therefore does "ADAM THE SON OF GOD": WHY LITERAL MEANING IS ESSENTIAL Notes: This is the only exception where “son of God” in its singular grammatical construction refers to anyone other than Jesus. God wants all people everywhere to know Jesus and come to him in the grace he supplies. Our mission is limited to men and earth’s boundaries, but God’s mission is committed to Jesus and heaven’s bright shores. There is no end to the extent of his kingdom. Islamic Culture? What is that? If you can define Christian culture, then you can define Islamic culture. Only then are we comparing apples with apples.
