PHANTOM POWER AND WHEN TO USE IT PHANTOM POWER. Phantom power (labeled as +48 V on most audio equipment) is a method that sends DC voltage through microphone cables.It is best known as a power source for condenser microphones, though many active DI (direct input) boxes also use it.. Phantom power supplies are often built into mixing desks, microphone preamplifiers and similar equipment. POW! POP! POWERING EQUIPMENT ON AND OFF IN THE RIGHT ORDER Ummmm, that’s not good. There is a specific order in which audio equipment should be turned off (and turned on for that matter). Following this order, the POW’s and POP’s will stop and your equipment will thank you for it. Audio gear components can emit a power spike, which is heard as a POW, POP, or THUMP, when they areturned on or off.

A decent keyboard/synthesizer will: Contains 61 or more keys, preferably 88 – think number of octaves. Have weighted and velocity sensitive keys. Have Left and Right direct output plugs (usually ¼ inch). Such keyboards are also known as keyboard workstations. Connection to the system is either direct from the keyboard into yourmixer or
CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? AN ASSISTED LISTENING SYSTEMS It’s easy to set up and easy to use. All that’s required is a feed from your audio mixer of what you want going to the assisted listening devices. That feed goes into the FM transmitter. This is transmitted to the individual receivers. IS OVER-COMPRESSION KILLING YOUR VOCALS? Compression’s a great tool for reducing volume spikes. It’s also great for punching up vocals by compressing the overall vocal range and pushing everything a little louder. The problem is it’s easy to over-compress a vocal, as I’d soon find out. Look at the photo below and note the spikes. Peak compressors work by compressing these BEST VOCAL MICROPHONES FOR UNDER $200 Heil PR22. Heil has been around a long time and while most of their mics run on the expensive side, the PR22 is a great mic below $200. Just don’t get the one with the switch – haha. SE Electronics V7. At only $100, this mic has a great sound with many people recommending this supercardioid dynamic mic. To check out the speaker you’ll need to remove the grille. Some things like the ripped cone or foam surround disintegrating will be pretty obvious. Other things like the voice coil and the speaker cone separating will probably need a more focused look-see. WHY PRE AND POST SEND SELECTION MATTERS Why Pre and Post Send Selection Matters. Each channel on a mixer has a little button labeled something along the lines of " Pre/Post ." This one little button can affect the stage monitors, nursery speakers, hearing impairment equipment, and even your recording devices. Let's explore the functionality of this button so the right people and FEEDBACK PREVENTION: A CLOSER LOOK AT MICROPHONES AND Feedback is a complex subject. It occurs at the frequency at which the closed-loop gain is greater than unity, and the phase is reinforcing rather than cancelling (i.e. the path from themicrophone through the mixer, amp, speakers and acoustic path from the speakers back to themic diaphragm).
