INTRODUCING THE INGREDIENTS DICTIONARY Introducing The Ingredients Dictionary. 4 December 2008 | Tine. From now on, I shall be adding a short section called The Ingredients Dictionary. I have been using beauty products for many years, and it was only until very recently that I started to actually notice the ingredients list in the products. I had no idea which does what! TOTAL BEAUTY QUIZ: WHAT'S YOUR IDEAL FOUNDATION Quiz: What’s Your Ideal Foundation? Find the formula that will finally give you flawless-looking skin We talked to celebrity makeup artists Gita Bass and Molly Stern and Procter & Gamble senior scientist Sarah Vickery to help you figure out the perfect formula for your skin type. LET’S TALK ABOUT A BEAUTY BRAND: THE BODY SHOPSEE MORE ON BEAUTYHOLICSANONYMOUS.COM BEAUTY TIP: CLEAN THE ARMS OF YOUR GLASSES The insides rub against your skin all day, and the foundation, powder and oil stick to the arms. The arms of the glasses have to be cleaned before wearing them after you have cleansed your face. If you put them on without giving the insides a clean first, you’re essentially just putting the grime back on your clean skin. DO YOU WEAR A BRA AT HOME? I definitely wear a bra at home; in fact, I feel naked without one. It’s strange, of course, given that I’m pretty much on my own at home during the day but nope, the bra has to stay on. I’ve heard friends saying that once they’re home from work, the bra has to come off. I just couldn’t do it at all. Shake as much lotion/cream to the bottom of the tube as possible (away from the cap). 2. Uncap the tube. 3. Squeeze out some air from the tube with your index finger and thumb. 4. With your finger and thumb still holding the tube, put the cap back on. The next time you uncap the tube, there will not be as much built up pressure, and the LA ROCHE-POSAY REDERMIC R: A GREAT RETINOL STARTER FOR THE La Roche-Posay’s Redermic R retails at AU$59.99 for 30ml and is available at leading pharmacies nationwide. What I like about it: Light serum for the skin, softened the deep line between my eyebrows and naso-labial lines. Skin feels softer and more supple. What I do not like about it: Nothing. GLYCOLIC ACID VS LACTIC ACID: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE AND Lactic acid is less irritating and more moisturising than glycolic acid. Hence, it can be used at higher concentrations. The smaller the molecule, the more easily it gets into the skin. As glycolic is the smallest of all the acids, it yields the best results. An acid product is only as potent as the free-acid compounds floating around insideit.
BEAUTY EXPERIENCE: MUMS THE WORD SPA PACKAGE @ EAST DAY The Mums The Word package comprises a 15-minute East Foot Ritual, and 60-minute Signature Massage and last but not least, a 15-minute Moroccan Oil Scalp Massage. This package is designed to gently restore balance to the body. The final 15-minutes can either be the Moroccan Oil Scalp Massage or Reflexology. I opted for the scalp massage. CLARISONIC PLUS: A SKIN BOON OR BANE? Mine is the Clarisonic Plus, which also includes a built-in timer and an option for a body brush. The built-in timer is set to 60 seconds: 20 seconds, beep, 20 seconds, beep, 10 seconds, beep, 10 seconds, stop. The first 20 seconds are for cleaning the forehead, the next 20 seconds for the nose and chin, and the final 20 seconds are for the REVIEW: CLINIQUE TURNAROUND 15-MINUTE FACIAL Immediately gives skin a vibrant, luminous, radiant look. Minimises the look of surface imperfectons, fine lines and pores. Instantly retexturises, leaving skin feeling velvety soft and smooh. With continued use, fine lines seem erased. This is a microdermabrasionmask.

HYLAMIDE C25 STABILISED VITAMIN C BOOSTER: CAN ONE LIKE AND LOATHE ITAT THE SAME TIME?
19 October 2016 | Tine Even though Hylamide is gaining popularity in the Northern hemisphere, it’s still a relatively unknown brand here in Australia. It’s currently available in Priceline but the selection is not as wide. It’s not one of those brands that are quickly swept up during Priceline’s highly popular 40% skincare sales (unlike brands like, say, Bioderma and La Roche-Posay). It’s a pity because they’ve got very good stuff. I’m a fan of their affordable and very effective Low-Molecular HA serum and have purchased many bottles of it. Since I ran out of my Vitamin C serum, I thought I’d give their C25 serum a go. It has received a lot of positive reviews and for a high-percentage Vitamin C serum under AU$50, this should have been asure-win.
The thing is, even though my skin liked it, I didn’t.Read More »

SMASHED MY FIRST 10K! 17 October 2016 | Tine I’m writing this on the high I’m still feeling from Melbourne Marathon 10km race I did yesterday. After months of training, I finally hit the 10km mark. I knew that after last year’s first 5kmrace ,
this year I wanted to do the 10km. And I did! Compared to my first 5km race last year, I kept this year’s race pretty low key. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any fund-raising this year and I didn’t mention on the blog that I would be running the 10k at the Melbourne Marathon. To be honest, I didn’t think I’d be able to do the race because three weeks leading to the race, I was hit with the worst cold I’ve had in many years and it left me completely depleted of energy. I stopped training for almost a month because I could hardly walk, let alone run. I was seriously *_this_* close topulling out.

UPDATING MY SKINCARE ROUTINE FOR THE COMING WARMER MONTHS 7 October 2016 | Tine Even though the weather is Melbourne is slightly crazy at the moment, there’s no doubt that the days are slowly but surely getting warmer. With the change in seasons and temperature, it also means that it’s time I make some changes to my skincare routine and bid adieu to rich creams for the next few months. My skin has changed a lot over the past few years, especially after entering my 30s. Even though my T-zone is still oily, it’s not as oily as it used to be compared to my 20s. It tends to get dehydrated quickly and every now and then, it would develop dry, flaky and rough patches that feel like fine sandpaper. It becomes worse in winter and thankfully not so much in summer. When the weather gets warmer, I tend to use light creams and favour gels. Nothing heavy goes on my skin; in fact, summer months is the time I don’t touch facial oils at all because for some reason, my skin don’t like them. Having said that, there are still some products that are non-negotiable and remain in my skincare routine all year long. Here’s what I’ve been using lately. My skin is loving the change and hasn’t given me any grief so far. I’d call that an improvement, wouldn’t you?Read More »

BLOGGIE WEDNESDAY: NO, WE ARE NOT THAT HARD UP FOR PR SAMPLES! 5 October 2016 | TineGratisography
By now, it’s no secret that beauty bloggers receive a good amount of beauty samples from PRs and brands for editorial consideration. Over the years, I’m thankful to have received my fair share of beauty products that were sent to my by PRs for review, even though a lot of them don’t make the cut of a mention on the blog. This is simply the reality of blogging product reviews; there really is just so much one can use and it’s not realistic that every single thing we received can be reviewed on the blog. The thing is, with the rampant growth of the number of beauty blogs on the blogosphere, brands and PRs also need to be selective of the bloggers they send products to. They’ll have to pick and choose the right kind of bloggers that would suit the clients they represent as they cannot send products to ALL of the beauty bloggers out there. It’s just not possible and it makes sense for them to be picky.Read More »
