The BC Oil and Gas Commission is a single-window regulatory agency with responsibilities for overseeing oil, gas and renewable geothermal operations in British Columbia. The Commission oversees activities from exploration and development, to pipeline transportation andreclamation.
NEW OIL AND GAS PROCESSING FACILITY REGULATION (INDB 2021-10) A new Oil and Gas Processing Facility Regulation (OGPFR) has been approved, which takes a comprehensive approach to managing the complexities associated with gas processing plants, manufacturing plants, and new petroleum refineries in B.C. ELIBRARY | BC OIL AND GAS COMMISSION Access to the FTP site is free of charge and available to the public. To request your unique username and password complete the Well Data Request form and indicate "eLibrary FTP request" in the Information Request field.. Additionally, there is digital data available for download through the Commission’s Data Downloads portal.Access to this portal is also free of charge and available to the OIL AND GAS ACTIVITY APPLICATION MANUAL The Oil and gas Activity Application Manual delivers a complete overview of the various components of applying for oil and gas permits, and is a comprehensive resource for understanding the intricacies of the application and decision making process for both industry and the Commission.WILDLIFE PROTECTION

Using a combination of project planning tools, operational oversight and end of life restoration, we are constantly working to ensure oil and gas, and geothermal activities protect wildlife and the habitat they depend on. eSubmission is the online portal for industry to submit a variety of operational data directly to the Commission in order to meet regulatory and conditional data submission requirements. OIL AND GAS ACTIVITY OPERATIONS MANUAL The Oil and Gas Operations Manual is a collection of requirements for permit holders, outlining the regulatory and guidance conditions for construction, operation, deactivation and reclamation of oil and gas and associated activities. LIABILITY MANAGEMENT The purpose of the Commission's Liability Management programs is to ensure that permit holders are responsible for the financial risks related to their operations. They assist the Commission in determining security deposits required of permit holders to protect against those who may not be capable of meeting abandonment and restorationobligations.
REMEDIATION, RECLAMATION & RESTORATION A Certificate of Restoration (COR) is a document issued by the Commission certifying that an abandoned wellsite has been restored to meet regulatory requirements.WATER MANAGEMENT
The use of water is an essential component in many oil and gas operations. The BC Oil and Gas Commission is responsible for reviewing, assessing, and making decisions on water authorizations from both surface and subsurface water sources for oil and gasactivity.
