USS Franklin (CV-13) Memorial: Battleship Cove is home to an official memorial for the aircraft carrier Franklin (CV-13). In one of the worst naval tragedies of the World War II, Franklin was hit by Japanese bombs and began to burn. Flames bathed her decks, igniting fires that smoked like pipes from the barrels of five-inch mounts. USS MASSACHUSETTS BB59 USS Massachusetts (BB-59): Historical Overview: . Battleship Massachusetts was built in Quincy, Massachusetts at the Fore River Shipyard of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. The power plant is the 300 hp T50-BO-8A gas turbine engine built by the Industrial Products Division of the Boeing Airplane Co. . QH-50C DS-1284 was originally operated off USS Nicholas (DD-449) in the 1960s. This DASH unit was later provided to the US Army along with most other US Navy program assets and remained in White Sands, NMuntil 2001.

Originally commissioned by the East German People's Navy as the Rudolf Eglehofer, the Hiddensee is a Tarantul I class corvette built at the Petrovsky Shipyard, located near the Soviet city of St. Petersburg (formerly Leningrad). The world's only exhibited example of a Soviet-built missile corvette, Hiddensee was designed to oppose any naval threat to the East German Coast NAUTICAL NIGHTS OVERNIGHT CAMPING It all began in 1972 when a Boy Scout leader asked Paul Vaitses, then Battleship Cove's executive director, "Is it possible for my scout group to spend a night aboard?" Mr. Vaitses promptly replied, "Absolutely!" . And so Nautical Nights began, with 80 scoutsOTHER CRAFT

Associated with the National Destroyer Museum of the same name, this memorial dedicated to all destroyers and sailors still on station is currently being renovated aboard USS Joseph P. PT Boat Memorial: While the PT boat service constituted only a small fraction of the US Navy's operations in World War II, they inflicted major damage on enemy operations. The power plant is the 300 hp T50-BO-8A gas turbine engine built by the Industrial Products Division of the Boeing Airplane Co. . QH-50C DS-1284 was originally operated off USS Nicholas (DD-449) in the 1960s. This DASH unit was later provided to the US Army along with most other US Navy program assets and remained in White Sands, NMuntil 2001.

This DASH unit was later provided to the US Army along with most other US Navy program assets and remained in White Sands, NMuntil 2001.

General Hours and Admission: The ships at Battleship Cove are open 7 days a week from 9-5 for the season! The Maritime Museum is currently open Wednesday through Saturday from 10am-3pm. In accordance with current guidelines, social distancing and the wearing of masks or cloth facial coverings are required on the premises. USS Franklin (CV-13) Memorial: Battleship Cove is home to an official memorial for the aircraft carrier Franklin (CV-13). In one of the worst naval tragedies of the World War II, Franklin was hit by Japanese bombs and began to burn. Flames bathed her decks, igniting fires that smoked like pipes from the barrels of five-inch mounts. USS MASSACHUSETTS BB59 USS Massachusetts (BB-59): Historical Overview: . Battleship Massachusetts was built in Quincy, Massachusetts at the Fore River Shipyard of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. The ship was launched on September 23, 1941 and holds the record as the heaviest ship ever launched in Quincy. "Big Mamie", as her crew knew her, was deliveredto the Boston

PT Boat Memorial: While the PT boat service constituted only a small fraction of the US Navy's operations in World War II, they inflicted major damage on enemy operations.
