Welcome to the Barr Report a place to learn about Aquariums, Aquarium Plants, Aquascaping, Emersed Growth and much much more! MY TANKS | BARR REPORT FORUM This is a 40b farm tank. Currently it has a single 16” sbreef light hanging over it. It contains most of my plants and is probably the one I will continue to monitor regularly and will be of interest. The tank gets EI dosing with a modified micro. The micro is standard dose ofCSMB.
WHAT DIRT SHOULD I USE FOR A DIRTED TANK? James Myers. Using 1.5 inches of soil (you can add root tabs or whatever dry ferts you want) then cap with 1.5 to 2 inches of gravel (pea or whatever you want). Add plants before adding the gravel. I recently found soil with the brand name kellogg. Finer than others and no sticks or big chunks.PASSIVE CO2?
2. Local Time: 1:56 AM. About a week ago I was at my LFS and saw a “disposable co2 can kit” for $10. Since I have been wanting to get into co2, but just didn’t want to spend $500+ on a pressurized co2 setup, I bought it. It uses the passive method to get co2 into the tank. It is on a 29g, so my thought is that it isnt diffusing (?)enough
LEONARDITE | BARR REPORT FORUM Wanted to add my supply for DB Leonardite. PlantLighting Hydrophonics offers 3# @ $11.90. True Vision Hydrophonics sold 1# for $6.29 and 12# for $35.90. None of this included shipping. Got 12# today, everything arrived in good shape. If there is a better place (price), please let us (members) know. :gw. #1 jonathan11, Aug 6, 2005. TISSUE CULTURED VS NON TISSUE CULTURED PLANTED TANK 3. Clean everything you get at least with some of your tank water with a toothbrush before putting in your tank. 4. Cleaning also means removing bottom leaves that don't look so good. 5. Some people quarantine plants just like some would phish. 6. A mild 20:1 H2O:H2O2 dip can be used if desired for a few minutes then rinse. ALGAEFIX TOXICITY TEST ON RED CHERRY SHRIMP The Algaefix also had no adverse effect on the plants and managed to kill off the algae. Controls had no Algaefix added and the algae was still very much present, but softer. So if you have shrimp etc in your tank, you can remove the troubled plants, add to a small tank, treat etc. If you lack shrimp, then you can hit it in the tank. OPTIMUM LIGHT PERIOD After the dimmed start there is some more light then another increase before the highest blast begins (4-5 hrs only). Stepping intensities down is staggered the same way. Total photoperiod lasts about 13,5 hrs including a very low light period at the beginning and end of each day(2,5 hrs together).

OXYDATOR | BARR REPORT FORUM So yes I think the Dr. Sochting's Oxydator can help keep a tank nice. I also found hydrogen peroxide and its dry form sodium percarbonate to be devastatingly effective against hair algae and cyanobacteria when applied for 96 hours at elevated rates. Something is wrong if wisteria (hygro difformis) is not doing well. It can be rooted in the substrate and will form dense thickets. It creeps along the substrate and can/will get tall as well. It can also simply float on the surface and the leaves will turn upright and the roots will hang in the water. This reduces light naturally and provides VORTEX COMPANY (FOR DIATOM FILTERS) CLOSED ??? CO2 variation throughout the day is a normal thing, specially on a tank without CO2 injection. This should not cause any issues as far as you are not overlighting your tank. One important thing you should consider is that changing the pH with acids/chemicals will not add CO2to your tank.
